What our customers say about their holidays

The Property is listed as Dog friendly, however it is a shared courtyard, so Dogs must be on the lead when you are sitting outside.

Worth looking at the map before you book, I was mislead thinking we had some access to the beach from the pictures online, however the beach is a couple of miles up the road, although 2 bedrooms have a lovely sea view. The Kitchen was large and well stocked, however doesn't have a table and chairs in there, perhaps if it didn't have 2 fridges and a few less empty cupboards it would open up a lovely space to socialise by the fire place. The actual dinning room is in the hallway, accessed through the lounge, so all your food needs to be carried through the lounge and dirty crocks back again, also no dishwasher, also bit of a dark and cold room, not great for playing games etc or relaxing after eating. Anyone with a bad back wont get comfy in the lounge, the Chesterfield suite was very uncomfortable, and a lack of side tables to put a drink on in the room was a bit annoying. As someone who looks for comfort first when booking a Holiday Cottage, myself and my party were a little underwhelmed by this place, however it would be a perfectly placed spot if you where just using it as a base and not to socialise in.

This has to be one of the best equiped kitchens I have ever stayed in.

No dishwasher or clothes dryer. The dishwasher not a problem clothes dryer big problem with young children and wet weather, no decent airer or outside line which made life more difficult as struggled with almost unusable equipment. When a property is billed as dog friendly , I expect that! I also realise that not all guests will travel with covers etc as I do just in case, I dont like signs up everywhere saying no dogs up stairs on stairs etc. It would have been better with a child gate on the bottom of the stairs that could be for children and dogs. I used a broken one to block stairs. The beds where absolutely the most comfortable. I want one! Products supplied for guests beautiful touch as the welcome box and card. I would stay again very good for exploring the beautiful Northumberland coastal area.

This cottage certainly is in a tremendous location.

When first renovated it probably was then well worth the price point. Alas, since then regular usage has left it looking tired, in need of a deep clean, and redecorating. It's not up to standards we've come to expect from regular use of Sykes. Scratches on doors, marks on door surrounds, cracks in plaster, leaking taps, gas hob rings not all working, shower screen leaking, mould around bath seal and sink taps, etc. These, and finding kitchen utensils in dishwasher cast doubts on the effectiveness of any claimed pre-occpancy checks. As a constructive comment to Sykes we would suggest making more prominent details regarding steep, narrow staircase access to downstairs bathroom. We left disappointed, feeling we had been overcharged for what would otherwise have been a great holiday.

Thank you for a lovely stay! The welcome hamper was a really nice gesture and the scones were so yummy. Rooms were really comfortable and we had everything that we could need. Such a great base for exploring the coast and what a great view! I’d recommend both Lord Crew & Castle Inn for afternoon tea – dog friendly too! Great walk to Seahouses along the beach and interesting to visit Bamburgh Castle. Holy Island well worth a visit but Lindisfarne currently being renovated and has nothing in it which was a bit disappointing. Alnwick Gardens were fabulous and i can imagine the grounds would be beautiful in the summer. Unfortunately we didn’t have time to visit the castle – but we will definitely be back with Coquet Cottages soon too experience it then! We will definitely be back.

Lovely cottage, one of four in the same building, that is perfectly located on the stunning Budle Bay.

Enough parking for 2 cars per cottage. This cottage is all about the location, which is 50 metres from a quiet beach, with spectacular views across the bay to Lindisfarne. This was a family stay - two adults and two teenagers - and we had a brilliant holiday. It wasn't a negative for us, but the cottage had steep, narrow stairs with an awkward 90 degree turn at the bottom. It also only had a downstairs bathroom, so if you aren't particularly mobile and need nighttime trips to the bathroom, then this might be a problem (but wasn't for us). A lovely cottage in a wonderful location and we had a fantastic holiday.
