      Location Likes.

Amazing location away from main roads which was extremely quiet. Just 50 minutes drive to Scarborough snd very close to York. Lovely kitchen to a very high standard with well equipped utensils (lacking a pizza cutter was the only missing item) Bed is very comfortable and bigger than a super king size. Bathroom has a large walk-in shower with swirlflush toilet. The views are stunning looking out over a beautiful countryside with the enclosed garden being a god send for our Beagle who like to 'explore' so keeping him safe. The following are dislikes. Sofas are very small and uncomfortable spoiling the comfort when relaxing. Needs a corner sofa where you can relax properly. There is a driveway to the owners storage yard which is a few feet away from the window, wrecking privacy when vans drive past or delivery vehicles looking in (careful if sitting in your pants lol as you'll be seen). Hot tub in garden is over looked by owners property which really didn't make us feel comfortable using it. Kitchen has a great extraction for the hob with a metal outlet pipe going outside, sadly the outlet to this has a nonreturn flap which keeps flapping down on reverse wind causing a loud tapping like someone's tapping the windows which can disturb the dog or you if your a light sleeper like me. This was really annoying. The fridge freezer has a faulty solenoid which keeps making a loud click when the thermostat cycles on and off which again causes sleep issues. The fencing and or gate is loose in its housing and thus when there's a slight wind, there is a rattle back and forwards causing the iron mongery to rattle. There was a lovely welcoming hamper which was amazing, the wife got me to by a caffetier because the coffee was that nice. Overall, the property is new and has teething problems. No expense has been spared making this an amazing property. If the things above were to be fixed, I'd definitely return but as it stands I wouldn't return. We didn't meet the hosts, which is what I prefer being a person who like to go on holiday and just enjoy time away quietly. Some hosts can be quite intrusive, but these weren't. Thank you.

Fabulous! We stayed over bonfire weekend as we always go away each year but our first stay here.

You could hear a few fireworks in the distance but nothing that upset our dog so unless you have a very fearful dog you'd be fine. We came inside and put the TV on and she didn't bother at all. I hope this helps anyone who likes to get away from all the bangs nearer home which are awful. The restoration done on this place is amazing and a credit to the owners. It was spotless and smelt lovely (so much so I've bought the same plug in air freshener!). Terri popped along to say hello when we had just arrived and was a text away if we needed anything. We like being left alone on hols so this was fine. The welcome info states that the hot tub will be attended to each morning at 6am but one of us was up with the dog so not sure if they did do this; the hot tub remained clean & had the filter bits in so maybe they don't do this now. Loved the underfloor heating so it was toasty and warm after the hot tub. We saw deer in the field next to us one morning. Comfy beds, could actually do bigger ones as lots of room and they had lovely quality bedding on. Lots of cleaning and washing equipment provided by the owner and large plentiful towells. The knife and oven tray which the guest before us had commented on in the visitor book had been replaced the same day (I mention this in case the same guest leaves a review). Secure back garden and yard which our dog loved playing with her ball in whilst we chilled in the hot tub. We have been to the area for years but our first visit to Cayton Bay beach and Filey has great butchers, bakers, chip shop. We wish the owners every success with your beautiful property, we would definitely return.

A lovely weeks' stay at Owl View.

We have never booked through Skye's cottages before always using Hoeseasons for seeking out luxury hot tub lodges. We also always go to North Wales, so this was a first on accommodation and area. We were not disappointed. Owl View was immaculate and so noticeably clean when we arrived. Very comfortable with everything needed to make for a great stay. Our Jack Russell adored the underfloor heating as did we when we came back from cold walks. The hot tub was great and Martin was very responsive when we asked for the temperature to be increased slightly as the cold wind reduced the temperature quite quickly. Martin came out promptly and increased the temperature which made the hot tub just perfect. We loved Filey the local town, which is so dog friendly. We enjoyed Caton beach for walking the dog early mornings on a empty sandy beach. Can recommend walks to the lighthouse and from Cayton beach to Scarborough. A visit to Whitby is a must and not too far away. York is also worth the drive to visit particularly the Railway museum which surprised my husband and I on how much we enjoyed it. Overall can highly recommend Owl View, we want a return visit but as with other feedback comments, it is so popular it maybe that we cannot book to return until next year. I would highly recommend.

This was our second stay at Owls View and everything was just as spectacular.

The accommodation is immaculate and extremely comfortable. The beautiful barn conversion is so cosy with it's underfloor heating (which is not always needed particularly if the sun is out which warms the property through the gorgeous bi-folding glass doors). The location is secluded and offers spectacular views. Within easy reach are the beautiful beaches and cliff top walks. Equally there are many walks direct from the doorstep. The hot tub was a welcome treat at the end of a days walking. The enclosed courtyard to the front of the property and garden to the rear offer a true safe space for the 4 legged friends of the family. Our Weimeraner (and ourselves) really appreciated this feature - outdoor lights allowed us to watch him during the darker hour. The owners are so friendly and accommodating and living close by are able to respond quickly to any issues. We would highly recommend this property to anyone wanting to explore this beautiful area.

We have stayed before and the accommodation is immaculate.

However the reason for 3 and not 4 stars is that on Thursday afternoon th e owner came round to see if our stay had been good and advise they were draining the hot tub at 8.30am the following morning to allow time to get it ready for the next booking! When we went to use the hot tub on Thursday evening the temperature had been reduced and it was too cold for us to use (I assume in preparation for the draining)We then could not use the garden in the morning until after 9.15 when the draining was completed as someone was out there carrying out the drainage. We had to leave at 10am. We didn’t have use of all the facilities for our holiday period and this was disappointing especially as we couldn’t use the hot tub on Thursday. We absolutely love this accommodation and May rebook. It just felt that we should have had full use until the 10am we had paid for.
