What our customers say about their holidays

    • Ben - Verified booking

My wife an I stayed at the property for the last week in October half term 2024.

We chose to book the Friday to Friday because the price difference like everything goes up by alot for half term, the Saturday to Saturday was going to cost alot more. We arrived on Saturday morning, we had no choice but to loose a day already because of work commitments. We were a little disappointed, we had our towels changed because the ones already in the property had old make up stains on them. Every single blind covering windows had damaged shutters on. There was marks all up some of the walls like someone had dragged a suitcase across it. But most of the walls in the property had marks or scratches on them. Make up hand prints on the walls in the bathroom. The floor was a state, all round the edging of the laminate/tiled style flooring in kitchen that went into the bathroom was all chipped and worn away. Inside the draw under the wash basin in the bathroom looked liked it had something burned/spilt into it. The coffee table in the sitting room had horrible black marks all over it, and what looked like chunks of wood chipped out of it. The ceiling light hanging down in the sitting room looked like it was hanging off. Not all lights for the outside porch area were working. The fencing on the decking behind the hot tub had broken slats hanging down. Plant pots with weeds growing in them which just made it all look really run down. However, we didn't allow it to effect our holiday, and we can't fault the staff, we made the ladies on reception aware straight away because the last thing we wanted was to receive an email to pay a house keeping charge after the holiday, and luckily we did as they made us aware that they were ONLY aware of ONE blind being damaged. But the ladies were really lovely and understanding, they took note of everything we had mentioned. The area itself where the lodge is was lovely, very quiet and secluded. But the big question, would we stay there again? And a simple answer would be no :( and it's such a shame because in the pictures it looked amazing. We just feel that for the money that we paid, it just wasn't worth it. If we had paid for the Saturday to Saturday, I think it would of been more upsetting for us because of the extra amount of money wanted for that week.

We spent an absolutely amazing two weeks at Willow Lodge, nestled on the edge of a small wood it's picturesque, secluded and beautiful.

On arrival we found a delicious cream tea waiting for us and some milk in the fridge, the lodge was very clean and well equipt with everything we needed, including dish washer tablets and hand soap. Not having to take towels was an added bonus too, the car was already chocker block! The lodge is a perfect base and is 30-60 minutes away from pretty much anywhere you want to go. The only thing I would say the lodge could do with is some hooks to keep the doors open as they kept blowing shut when it was windy, and some bath robes for when you get out of the hot tub would be brilliant. The hot tub itself could do with upgrading as a few of the jets didn't work but it was still a very welcome addition and was used on all but 2 of our 14 days, the kids loved it and after a final dip on the morning we left we forgot to take the swimming things out of the washing machine after spinning them, Anne was kind enough to return them to us along with a light control my son had left behind. Anne is an extremely friendly host and always on hand to help with any problems, our toaster was only toasting on one side which we said wasn't a problem as the other side side worked fine, but it was still replaced very promptly. She also checked in a few times to make sure everything was ok and was very helpful with some local questions we had. One tip, if using sat nav during your stay, don't have it set to quickest route, we only found this out in the second week after realising the A30 and A39 will lead you pretty much everywhere, sat nav will take you down all the narrow, winding (and frankly scary at times) roads because it thinks it's the quickest way but because you can't get over 10-20mph it can double your travelling time. Overall we would highly recommend this lodge and have already started saving to go back.

We had a wonderful week at Willow lodge.

The lodge has been upgraded with new carpets and sofas which has improved the overall look of the lodge and was a pleasant surprise on arrival …photos online should be updated to show this. We stayed with three teenagers and they loved the hot tub which was used everyday and was very much the highlight of the lodge. We chose the lodge due to having a hot tub but also the location which was so peaceful and not overlooked at all. It was a great base in which to explore Cornwall. The lodge is spacious and the bedrooms had ample space for everyone staying plus lots of space for clothes storage. The beds were comfortable and the shower was more than adequate. A problem with the shower was dealt with promptly by the owners. Overall everyone in our group had a wonderful stay and we would recommend staying here. It would be lovely if there were some garden games stored in the outside cupboard as there is a good sized lawn in which to enjoy them, badminton sets or swing ball etc. Lastly, the personal touches of delicious scones, jam and cream on arrival were a welcome treat and loo rolls, washing up liquid and tea towels also welcome as an additional extra that most properties do not include.

14 Horizon view is located in a great pitch.

It is private and in general the grounds are in a good state. The inside was spotless and again in a fairly good condition. There are a few things that need attention, some of the blinds are damaged and the ensuit shower door is at risk of falling off. Overall the lodge is great and what we expected. We stayed in one a little further down a few years ago, so knew the site and quality. The outside furniture is nice, although we didn't use it. The reception staff were very efficient. The dishwasher wasn't working and the service provided by reception and maintenance was second to none, in ensuring the issue was resolved. I was very impressed with reception making a second call to us later that day, to check everything was ok. Small touches in the lodge, such as fruit bowl was nice. The milk and welcome box was a nice gesture as well. I would recommend this lodge and the site. The lodge has everything you require and more. The site is very quiet and located in easy reach of many of the South coast attractions. Overall fantastic.

      Wonderful place.

Really relaxing, quiet and beautiful. Lodge was amazing and had everything we needed. Probably felt it could have had a deeper clean, as there was a lot of dust in places that aren't always cleaned every week, ie under the bed. Only a minor thing though and in no way did this detract from a beautiful place. Only small gripe was the amount of time it took maintenance to come out to us. We had an issue with one of the doors and as such couldn't leave the accommodation until someone had come and fixed it. We did have to make 3 phone calls before a lovely maintenance guy came and fixed the issue within about 2 minutes. Staff at the restaurant were amazing and made us feel very welcome. This was the first time we'd taken our young dog away with us and were a bit unsure about how welcome he would be, but need not have worried as the staff were great and even the dog had a treat each night when we went down for dinner! Would highly recommend this place.
