    Holiday Cottages in Derbyshire

Derbyshire is one of the most beautiful parts the UK, boasting some incredible scenery, notably the Peak District. It's also home to some picturesque towns and villages such as Bakewell and Chesterfield, and has a long heritage and charming character all of its own. If you're looking for accommodation that breaks the mould then you'll find lots of great holiday cottages in Derbyshire, from tasteful and spacious lodges to quaint little stone dwellings that are perfect for romantic escapes.

Holiday cottages in Derbyshire are a great choice if you're looking for something more than your average getaway. The county is packed with charming, unique, and characterful properties, making holiday cottages in Derbyshire special. If you're looking for something larger for a group or family trip then there is plenty of choice. If you if you need a pet friendly option for you and your pampered pooch you're bound to find what you're looking for in Derbyshire.

Things to do on a Derbyshire cottage holiday

Predominantly a rural region, Derbyshire encompasses a large part of the Peak District, a stunning National Park that's characterised by rugged uplands and moorland, such as Kinder Scout. The area feels very remote and is the ideal spot for an adventure. There are lots of ways to explore the Peak District hiking, cycling and even on horseback. Stay in one of many pet-friendly holiday cottages in Derbyshire and your favourite friend can even come along with you.

Scattered throughout Derbyshire's rolling hills, you'll find lots of historic and picturesque towns and villages. Bakewell, for instance, is considered to be one of the finest towns in England and, yes, it is the birthplace of the Bakewell tart! If you're looking for something livelier, the city of Derby lies along the river Derwent and is awash with museums, galleries, and a magnificent Gothic cathedral.

Derbyshire is less touristy than somewhere like Cornwall or the nearby Lake District. But it's definitely worth exploring if you want a holiday to remember. The sheer number and quality of holiday cottages in Derbyshire makes this pretty part of the UK ideal for unforgettable family trips or romantic getaways.

Encompassing swathes of the Peak District, Derbyshire is a top place to stay. With luxury cottages on offer you can enjoy your next staycation in style. Whether it's as a romantic retreat or a family getaway, there will be a place for you in this lovely county.

The Peak District is, of course, a popular place to go in this county. With plenty of opportunities for walking and cycling, as well as stunning views; it's easy to see why. However, this isn't the only attraction of Derbyshire. Both in and out of the National park there are numerous pretty towns and villages in which to enjoy a luxury cottage holiday. It's just the place to unwind and enjoy a slower pace of life.

What our customers say about their holidays

    • Ken - Verified booking

As in previous reviews the location and views from the property are very good, also the property itself is nice, however my concerns are the lack of Facilities and the price for the property.

For just a few £££'s more I could have had a detached 2/3 Bedroomed House/Cottage, whereas this property is Very Small, not sure how you would fit in a Cot as well? Facility wise it is a bit sparse. If you plan to Fry some food forget it as there is no extraction available, so I'd avoid that, also there is no Micro-Wave, which is strange these days. If you plan to stay for a week then be aware that there are no storage facilities for clothes or even for food, although you will probably be eating out? The Hot water for pot washing only last a couple of minutes before it goes cold. To watch TV you have to keep removing the ladder out of the way. The bedroom doesn't fit my description of a bedroom, it is basically a mattress on a loft floor, no cupboards or drawers or mirrors also very little headroom, about 2', so it's a "crawl" to get in and out of bed. The upper "bedroom" is not suitable for anyone that might have disabilities etc. due to having to climb a ladder to access the mattress. The lighting is very bright, so a Table Lamp would be helpful for nighttime. We never got to me the hosts, so I can't comment on that. I know this is a negative review, and I'm sorry to leave one, but people should be made aware of the limitations that they will encounter. For me this was booked on the "Spur of the Moment", so I guess I'm partially to blame for not reading the comments etc. If you are just doing a 1/2-night stay, then this would be ideal, but anything over, in my opinion, would need a bit of consideration.

We hadn't visited the Peak District for many years and were very pleased we chose 'Cara' as the base for our holiday. We received a warm welcome from Suzanne. The cottage is in a perfect position with excellent views over the surrounding countryside. So peaceful - the perfect place for a relaxing holiday. The cottage is very comfortable and spacious with everything you need to self cater. We loved the personal touches of the framed needlework throughout the cottage and the old Singer sewing machine in the sitting room. Reminded me of my teenage years using the family treadle Singer machine!! 'Cara' is ideally situated for easy access to the main roads which will take you to the many popular haunts in the Peak District. Places we recommend to visit: The National Tramway Museum, Eyam Village Museum, Cascade Gardens at Clatterway, Bonsall, nr Cromford.

What a wonderful part of the world. The weather's been kind, the hills have been steep, the air has been fresh and we've had a delightful week's break from the traffic- filled lifestyle of Essex. We've cycled here, there and everywhere and really want to come back for more. The dedicated cycle tracks stretch far and wide and we've stopped to chat to so many people. We've photos and videos galore to remind us of our holiday. Cara cottage is perfect. Comfy bed, all mod cons, big TV for the evening and a safe place for the car. We've really enjoyed our time here and would recommend the cottage unreservedly. We swam in the open air Lido in Hathersage , looked at the Derwent reservoir, loved Bakewell and Matlock and Chesterfield. Went to Hardwick Hall and Ilam's Stepping Stones, and loved the Monsal and High Peak trails. Thank You

If we could give a 100 stars for this cottage, then we would.

The owner was lovely and allowed us to go in early and kept us fully informed about the cottage. 10/10 Customer Service. The cottage was just so beautiful, very very clean, and just so cosy. The welcome package, cakes and mulled wine was very welcomed, thank you so much. The beds in the cottage were just so comfortable and very well needed after a day walking around the beautiful village of Tideswell. We had the most wonderful weekend and the local people, including Amy the owner, were some of the most friendliest people we have ever met! Thank you once again, and we hope to visit again sometime soon. Finally, we will be sure to recommend Angel Cottage to all our friends and family.

Lovely cottage, very tastefully converted and pristine condition. Wonderful scenery and walks to be enjoyed. The Lamb is a traditional pub and well recommended , we were made very welcome by the owners. We did eventually find the track through the fields to the village. The walk along the lane is much easier, taking a short cut through the Church yard! we have greatly enjoyed our week here and will recommend it to everyone. Many thanks Suzanne and James for the welcome flowers, wine and milk, greatly appreciated.
