What our customers say about their holidays

My family and I had a wonderful stay at the Dutch barn.

It is beautifully decorated, well thought-out and equipped with everything you could need. The hot tub is a great addition and enabled us to keep the boys busy on rainy days. The hot tub robes were also a nice touch. The accommodation is very comfortable with quality furnishings. The barn is on a working farm but we were not disturbed once. The owners live close by but respect your privacy but were equally very responsive and helpful if needed. We really enjoyed exploring the local area. You are spoilt for choice when it comes to castles and historic buildings. We particularly enjoyed Hereford Cathedral, the chain library and the Mappa Mundi are a must see. The cafe was also really good. Homemade quiches and fresh salads. We thoroughly enjoyed Ludlow castle (a well preserved ruin which seems a bit of contradiction) . We also paid a visit to Croft Castle which is more of a stately home and there’s not as much to do there on a wet day but we did enjoy the tour of the house. Not as great in terms of value for money as Ludlow or Hereford cathedral. For something different and despite not being cider drinkers we did the Weston’s Cider factory tour which was fab. Surprisingly Family friendly too. Nice cafe there. Finally we went to Monkland Dairy. We didn’t do the tour but the lady in the shop was lovely, let us sample their 6 cheeses and the cheese makers both came out and had a chat to our boys. They watched the machinery through a little viewing window . The cheeses are delicious! Great holiday, lovely setting and plenty of things to do.

We loved staying at Grove Cottage!

It was comfortably furnished with a lovely mix of old and new and very well-equipped. On arrival we found a wonderful welcome hamper, plus milk in the fridge, coffee and tea, and a gorgeous homemade victoria sponge. There were also supplies of toilet rolls, handwash, clingfilm and foil, plus cleaning products. The upstairs is quite dinky, just the two bedrooms, the double a good size, the twin fairly compact, but downstairs has been very imaginatively extended to make a very spacious living space. One point that is not mentioned in the details is that, no doubt as a result of extending an old cottage, there are a lot of changes of floor level downstairs, some actual steps, but some just enough to make a trip hazard until you're used to them. Other than that, the cottage is delightful! There was no shortage of hot water and the heating was easy to control (despite it being June, the weather was so chilly we used it selectively morning and evening). The pretty garden, beautifully maintained, was lovely to sit in when we did get some sun and my husband really enjoyed the hot tub. One final positive in our eyes was that all the windows had blinds or, in the case of the large window in the lounge/diner, thick curtains. On a chilly night, it was nice to be able to close off the encroaching darkness, even though the cottage was secluded, but too many holiday cottages seem to think it unnecessary.

      Wow what a brilliant retreat.

Repeat visit required for sure! Grove cottage is a beautiful game keepers cottage, just off the beaten track pretty much secluded, in the grounds of a golf course beautiful decor and amenities. Comfortable, clean and it says come back for more. The hamper was the best we've ever had with any break we've had through Sykes, cake, eggs, bread, snacks etc etc even milk.to enjoy a coffee once we arrived and seeming it was our wedding anniversary break Zena and Roger had left us an extra celebratory gift in the fridge to enjoy toasting in the hot tub later. Thank you :-) We enjoyed our time visited the Hickory stick restaurant for the Wednesday Steak and bowl which we couldn't fault with friends who visited for the day but they also do food through out the day starting with breakfast til 6pm. Recommended to friends already and they will be booking up too. Things we did while there, was a trip to the Newcourt cider just down the road, The Bush Inn for a very different afternoon tea, Monkland cheese dairy, local cosy pub in Leominster the White lion and Coffee, cake and more at St Michael's hospice coffee and books. Sure there's lots more to explore yet that we didn't get to do. We did plan to go to Queenswood park/arboretum and a few walks and a visit to the local deli in town but that'll be on the list next time. As you can see a most enjoyable stay.

      What a phenomenal place!

We loved being able to relax and unwind. The Dutch Barn is exceptionally comfortable, brilliantly equipped and has spectacular views from the upstairs living space. It is a beautifully airy, open place with a view from every window, either across the fields, over the orchard where the sheep graze or across to the hills in the distance. The spa hot tub was superbly looked after by Jackie. It was a pure delight to sit under the stars in the hot water and to just sit and chat. Every need was catered for in the Barn. We thoroughly enjoyed the welcome pack which featured local produce which was a lovely touch. The kitchen was very well thought out with condiments, cling film, foil, bags, clips, utensils all available for use. Overall, we will definitely be back. Truly one of the best places we have stayed in. Thank you so much for an incredible week.

Have just stayed at Grove cottage , a lovely cosy 2 bedroom property.

On arrival there was a basket of goodies, biscuits, crisps, eggs, milk, and a fantastic home made cake .The host Zena popped in to check everything was ok .The property is lovely and private up a track that ends at the property .Everything you could want is there if you want to cook up a meal, or ,if not, at the start of the track is the golf driving range where we ate the first night .There is also crazy golf and a bowling alley there.Although secluded you are not far from places such a Leominster,Ludlow and Hereford.Having a hot tub was great as we sipped wine looking up at all the stars in such a black sky, which you don’t get in the city with all the light pollution .The lounge has a log burning fire which made for a cosy atmosphere and I would highly recommend this property as the hosts have thought of everything you may need .
