What our customers say about their holidays

    • Mr Patterson - Verified booking

This apartment was totally unsuitable for habitation. There was a damp smell, which hit you on entering the cottage. The upstairs bedroom was like a greenhouse as the sun had been out all day. The headroom in the bedroom was very restricted in places, especially when moving around the bed. We did not stay overnight in the cottage as I was worried about the damp. My wife had Sepsis in November 2022 and we could not take the chance of any spores being present in the cottage as she is now vulnerable to infection. We spent the first two nights in an apartment at the Olde Ship Inn and then secured 4 nights in a holiday house in South Street. This obviously involved significant additional expense on our part, not to mention the stress we experienced in trying to find alternative accommodation. Having just buried my Mother the Thursday before travelling to Seahouses, this holiday came just at the right time to relax and unwind, little did we know what awaited us. We are now in Keswick for a week and on our return home I will be in touch to take this matter further. Maurice Patterson

Visited Coldburn Cottage in Oct 21 with my husband and 3 dogs, one of which is reactive. The property was warm, welcoming and spotlessly clean. The kitchen was exceptionally well stocked and all furnishings comfortable. The grounds, extending to about an acre, are wonderful with a small brook, large grassed areas and a large walled garden which was totally secure and perfect for my dogs. The cottage has excellent wifi and the TV has a range of great channels (Netflix/Prime Video) to while away cosy evenings. The cottage is located in the Northumberland National Park and the views from all windows are superb. Due to its position and the time of year, we saw very few cars, people or dogs, making it perfect as a walking base for our dogs, especially our reactive dog. Infact, we didn't need to use our leads, at all. A range of facilities can be found about 6 miles away, in Wooler, including a Co-op and an excellent bakery which we used to stock up on shopping at the start of our holiday. It really was a fabulous place to stay and an absolute gem of a place for a reactive dog!

Disappointed. Headroom on the stairs and in the bedroom is quite significant. At 5ft 5 inches I was impacted and my husband was unable to stand upright at all . Beware the heating system in anything other than fine weather. House was cold and unwelcoming when we arrived and again the next morning. You either require to set a fire in the grate or have a supply of £2 coins. Smart meter in the kitchen continually tells you how much electricity you are using which was also unwelcoming. On a positive note the property was quiet, walkable to the harbour although officially in North Sunderland and not Seahouses as expected and has easy parking.

Wow- what an absolutely amazing place. I can’t rate this highly enough and no amount of photos will ever do it justice. Very secluded. Idilic location and view over the snow capped hills. Lots of wildlife seen from the cottage. The beds are unbelievably comfortable! Kitchen really well stocked with pots/ pans etc for both cooking and baking. Lots of outside space for the dogs to run around securely in and out house where they could dry off and get cleaned before coming back in the house. Lots of logs and coal. (Sorry we used a lot as we just relaxed and made the most of the cottage). So glad I found this cottage. It’s a must.

    • Mr Secular - Verified booking

Coldburn cottage is quaint and in the most idillic location. The wrap around garden is fully enclosed and was perfect for our two German Shepherd’s. We enjoyed the peace and quiet and the views are beautiful. It was chilly a couple of evening’s but we had an endless supply of logs and coal. This is a very remote location so we made the most of the walks within the park. We would most definitely return as it ticked every single box as one of our most relaxing holidays. We saw buzzards, deer, a slow worm, a hare, and even a lizard!! This place is ideal for families or even a romantic getaway! Your dogs will love it!
