What our customers are saying about our Self Catering Holidays In Northumberland.
Mr Townsend - verified booking
"The central-heating thermostat is... guesswork, at best. No instructions, and it seems to keep on resetting itself every few hours. Not a massive inconvenience or hassle, but... not a smooth hassle-free experience either. For me personally, none of the sofas were overly comfortable - again, not a massive problem, but a constant niggle. And finally, if you (Sykes and/or the property owner) are going to make the renter get £100 in cash for the 'housekeeping bond', at least make the effort to collect it. Or just sack off the requirement completely. Either way. But making *such* a big deal about it (it's on every confirmation, and on the description page on Sykes) and then not bothering about it again just makes it feel like "Well, that was pointless and annoying"."

"Lovely stylish and spacious apartment in a good location in the town. Apartment 7 is at the top of Hexham House (second floor) and it’s a bit of a climb but views are great across the gardens and Hexham Abbey one way, and into the hills from the other bedroom. Everything is well laid out. There is no washing machine or easily usable ironing board but otherwise excellently equipped. The town has many good supermarkets, a station to get into Newcastle/Carlisle and also good coffee shops and cafés in the market area. There is an excellent french restauarant next door. Hexham is in a good position for exploring Hadrian’s Wall, Corbridge Roman Town, Newcastle and the coast to the north. All in all, an excellent apartment and very well managed by Jamiesons."

"This cottage had plenty of room for our family of five. Checking in and out was extremely simple and the people running the place were very friendly and welcoming - we felt at home. The cottage location was perfect for our day trips throughout North East Northumberland. The kitchen had all amenities we needed to prepare meals, do laundry, dishes, etc. The garden has a tennis court that the kids used very often and both bathrooms in the cottage were huge; the showers were great! The property was beautiful, with great views of the moorlands from our bedroom, peacefully quiet evenings and a very comfortable lounge area. If/when we return to the UK, we will stay here again without hesitation."

"Ideally located, clean and comfortable with good parking arrangements. It did not have a washing machine as described, or adequate hot water in the kitchen sink- but this is apparently being addressed. We were not offered a discount because of these faults. Manager offered to take our washing to a laundry.Communication was very poor. We texted, phoned and emailed repeatedly but got no reply to specific queries either before our arrival or during our stay. We were promised a second key but it was not delivered.Check in time was incorrectly advertised as 3pm, but is actually 4pm.Despite the hassles, I'd probably stay there again."

"Craster Reach is a lovely cottage in a pretty location. It is very well presented throughout. Bathrooms are stunning, and the bedrooms gorgeous with comfortable beds and beautiful soft furnishings. Views from back windows down over the harbour to the sea and castle are amazing. Nice seating area on front decking that catches the morning and late afternoon sun. Pub at the bottom of road very handy for a drink in the beer garden or indoors if weather wet. Walks along the coast in either direction from Craster and several inland kept us fit whilst enjoying the scenery and fresh air."
