Rock End in Seahouses is highly praised for its cleanliness, comfort, and prime location near the beach and local amenities. Guests appreciate the friendly and helpful owner, Judy, and the property's well-equipped nature. The unique character and quality furnishings contribute to a restorative and enjoyable stay.
Guests consistently mention the superb cleanliness of the property, describing it as 'spotless' and 'immaculately clean', indicating a very high standard of cleanliness.
The property's location is frequently highlighted as ideal, being close to the beach, local amenities, and offering sea views. Its proximity to Seahouses and the quiet setting are appreciated.
Comfort is a strong point with mentions of a 'big bed', 'comfy sofa', and 'good quality furnishings'. However, one mention of the property becoming 'very hot' slightly impacts the score.
Facilities are well-regarded, with guests finding the property well-equipped and mentioning the great shower and kitchen amenities. Maintenance seems to be good, though no specific mention of ongoing maintenance work is made.
While guests find the owner very welcoming and helpful, there are no specific references to gifts or special thoughtful touches beyond the owner's hospitality, so a score cannot be provided.
Offering quirky accommodation on the outskirts of Seahouses, Northumberland, Rock End is an outstanding detached holiday home which is perfect for couples looking for a cosy coastal getaway. The ground floor is nautically themed and open-plan, with underfloor heating. The kitchen has everything that you need to make a delicious meal, although there is a great selection of cafés, restaurants and takeaways within walking distance of Rock End and many more a short drive away. The kitchen has a full size fan oven, with grill, induction hob, microwave oven, dishwasher and washer/dryer. The dining area has a table for two made from three ships capstans. The seating area has a three seater sofa and coffee table and a wall mounted television, which has Freeview TV. The ground floor has floor-to-ceiling windows let the light flood in. Also located on the ground floor is the shower room, which has a larger than average shower cubicle, washbasin and toilet. There is a separate porch with coat hooks, iron and ironing board and cleaning cupboard. Upstairs is accessed by a feature spiral staircase that leads directly into the bedroom. Make your way up the stairs and find that the bedroom also has floor-to-ceiling windows, which face east and if you are an early bird, it is possible to view the sunrise over the sea. There is a king size bed, small wardrobe and a selection of drawers for your clothes. There is a wall mounted TV, also with Freeview which can be viewed from the bed. Rock End does not have an attached garden but the front garden of the adjoining property Gun Rock has a garden, which you are most welcome to use. This boasts memorable coastal views from Bamburgh Castle to the west, via the Farne Islands to Seahouses Harbour in the east. There is a table and chairs in the garden and many evenings it is possible to witness the most spectacular sunsets over Bamburgh Castle. Seahouses village, a short walk away, boasts some beautiful sandy beaches with the village itself well worth a visit, offering a good variety of shops and eateries. You could also try your hand at crazy golf. You can catch a boat from the harbour to Farne Islands where you can look out for birds and seals. Jump in the car and head out to attractions such as Bamburgh Castle, Alnwick Castle and Gardens, Dunstanburgh Castle, Cragside, Northumberland Country Zoo, Hauxley Wildlife Discovery Centre and Hadrian’s Wall. Activities to look forward to while you’re in the region include golf at Seahouses, Bamburgh Embelton and Alnmouth, and watersports at Beadnell Bay.
A bustling, pretty fishing village with an attractive harbour, situated on the beautiful Northumbrian coast in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Seahouses offers a variety of shops and a good selection of inns, pubs and eating places. Nearby are miles and miles of splendid sandy beaches and the opportunity to visit the bird sanctuary or seal colony on the famous Farne Islands with boat trips running daily from Seahouses, is not to be missed. There are numerous castles and great houses to explore, such as the magnificent castles at Bamburgh, Cragside, and Alnwick (home of the Duke of Northumberland), to mention just a few. Also the front curtains upstairs and downstairs need attention as in being made to completely cover the windows with NO gaps as we were both kept awake most of the night due to the bright light from the lamp post that was basically just to the left of the window. The hotel next door also had very bright illumination too at night which was very annoying and unexpected. The parking area posts for Rock End need some sort of paint on them to become more visible as my partner nearly backed into one he didn't see was there.

We will definitely stay again.
