"Beautiful cottage which is exceptionally well equipped. Very peaceful setting in a very small hamlet of about 12 properties. Nearest shop is 2.5 miles away in Marfen although was closed while we were there. Don’t expect food shops on your doorstep so plan for at least your 1st evening and breakfast. Next nearest was Corbridge which has little Co-op but some lovely little shops too. For major food shopping Hexham is great with big Tesco, plus Aldi and Waitrose. Lots of other lovely shops too. Beautiful countryside all around cottage with amazing walking to be done. Lovely welcome from owners Michelle and Rob with unexpected fresh baked loaf, lovely jam and few other extras. Please be mindful that satnav May try to send you down tracks and dead ends. Mine is only 2 years old and didn’t recognise the dead ends and kept trying to send me down them. Was approx 3.5 mile journey down single track which is undulating with a few passing points. Was lovely but suspect treacherous in winter. We had fun when the farmer didn’t lock the gate properly one time and 4 cows and a bull escaped and led us down the last of the track down to the A road where they kindly stopped the traffic for us! There are other routes once you find your way around but if relying on satnav may be an issue for some. Cottage is by far the nicest we have stayed in by far and would highly recommend and would be happy to return."

"We have spent many holidays in Rothbury, using it as a base to stock up on provisions and choosing to travel by car to explore the vast county of Northumbria.S80461 was an ideal location, being just on the outskirts of Rothbury, high on a hill with uninterrupted views of breathtaking countryside. It is set away from the farm itself and so is not overlooked.Janice is a welcoming host. She left us milk, tea, coffee and cake so that we were able to chill before starting our unpacking. She visited to welcome us and came to say goodbye at the end of our stay. The cottage itself exceeded our expectation. It was spotlessly clean, furnished to a high standard with new appliances and all the equipment we required.During our week we visited various parts of Hadrians Wall, a number of castles including Dunstanburgh, and Warkworth Castle and Hermitage, Brinkburn Priory down the road from the cottage, and Howick Hall. We also visited the harbour at Amble, and the beach at Durridge Bay.We ate out too and there are lots of lovely coffee shops, restaurants and pubs around. We particularly liked the Three Wheat Heads at Thopton and the tea room at Howick Hall."

"Very clean and comfortable apartment with a very well stocked kitchen. The furniture was comfy and well laid out and the kitchen had more crockery and utensils than larger places we've stayed at, including a full sized fridge freezer and easy to use oven. The location is perfect for dogs, a minute from the beautiful beach and promenade and the apartment has a lovely enclosed courtyard. There's not much in Spittal itself but there is a great little shop, a couple of pubs and cafe and amusements on the promenade. It's the perfect base for exploring the Northumberland coast and Scottish Borders. Berwick is about a 20/30 minute walk depending on speed. Jean is a fantastic host and left a lovely welcome basket of biscuits, honey, jam, wine and milk. We had an amazing 2 weeks and will definitely return. I would highly recommend Aidens and couldn't fault anything."

"We were initially pleased with the parking bay however inside was less impressive particularly the persistent smell of gas in the cooking area, more strong first thing in the morning. On the top floor the room was spacious and comfortable but spoiled by the condensation inside the large velux style windows the frames of which were severely corroded and had regularly leaked leaving many unsightly rust stains both below and around the frames. The cleanliness of the toilets left much to be desired and the fact that several table lamps had either failed bulbs or even no bulb at all was disappointing when simple care could have vastly improved the residential experience in a well positioned apartment with super beach views and great access to the beach."

"We had a lovely time at S14425. The location was perfect for us to explore the region - beaches and places to eat, including the White Swan across the road. The overall rating is a little lower than it would be as we had big problems with the electrics - the sockets switched off many, many times including watching tv, during the night so phones did not charge, fridge switched off, kettle etc. This also happened during the day whilst we were out. We stayed only three nights so endured it and understood that it could not be put right immediately or over the weekend. I’m sure it will be sorted before the cottage is rented again. We would love to return again and be able to fully appreciate it as it was otherwise great. We enjoyed the pool and sauna :-)"
