About this property

A hidden gem lovingly refurbished, this cottage provides a romantic retreat in the pretty village of Harbottle.

Tucked away in the centre of the pretty village of Harbottle in the heart of the Northumberland National Park Bonny Barn is a hidden gem. Having been lovingly refurbished this quirky little cottage provides a romantic retreat in a tranquil rural setting, and from the terraced garden there are stunning views across open countryside. At the top of the garden there is a summer house which guests are welcome to use. The owner takes great pride in the garden and can provide guests with seasonal vegetables as they are harvested. Avid walkers can begin a day out on the moors direct from the door of the cottage. There is a lovely walk of about 5 miles from Harbottle Castle up to see the Drakestone, a massive sandstone block which rests high on a hill above Harbottle. In Druid folklore the stone is said to have healing powers. From the top there are wonderful views overlooking Harbottle Lough, the Coquet Valley and across to the Cheviot Hills.
