"We have spent many holidays in Rothbury, using it as a base to stock up on provisions and choosing to travel by car to explore the vast county of Northumbria.S80461 was an ideal location, being just on the outskirts of Rothbury, high on a hill with uninterrupted views of breathtaking countryside. It is set away from the farm itself and so is not overlooked.Janice is a welcoming host. She left us milk, tea, coffee and cake so that we were able to chill before starting our unpacking. She visited to welcome us and came to say goodbye at the end of our stay. The cottage itself exceeded our expectation. It was spotlessly clean, furnished to a high standard with new appliances and all the equipment we required.During our week we visited various parts of Hadrians Wall, a number of castles including Dunstanburgh, and Warkworth Castle and Hermitage, Brinkburn Priory down the road from the cottage, and Howick Hall. We also visited the harbour at Amble, and the beach at Durridge Bay.We ate out too and there are lots of lovely coffee shops, restaurants and pubs around. We particularly liked the Three Wheat Heads at Thopton and the tea room at Howick Hall."

"We have just stayed at S37795 for 10 days and could quite happily have extended our holiday. The kitchen, although small, is well kitted out including a washing machine and full sized fridge freezer plus all utensils. The bed was super comfy, plus bedroom had full length mirror and a good amount of hangers in the wardrobe, which is fab. The lounge was quite cosy with lots of lovely finishing touches and a nice little conservatory all gave a homely feel. Our only gripe was the parking! Although it states that there is designated parking for the cottage in the description, this is mostly taken up by customers going to the pub right opposite, or customers parking right outside the kitchen window, which felt quite intrusive. But we would definitely stay here again, as this is not a major issue, but I feel it should be mentioned. As I say, we would absolutely stay at S37795 again and definitely recommend it"

"The cottage was spotless on arrival, with every little detail you could think of catered for. The decor was lovely, although it was a bit cozy for space in the rooms. The best bit though was really the location. For a castle enthusiast like me it was amazing to go for a walk around the grounds every night after dinner to enjoy the beauty of the castle. The only draw back was the noise on the first night as there was a wedding on in the castle. You don't hear any music or general wedding noise, but the toilets/cloakroom were right overhead so the constant footsteps, doors and flushing were a lot to handle. That said, it all ended by a respectable midnight, plus James the owner had apologised in advance and left us a little gift as way of apology, which was greatly appreciated."

"Arrived to find had changed name to S59677 but once new name advised and lodge located we were able to locate and settled in quickly. Lodge was Very well equipped and hot tub ready on arrival. Sitting in a hot tub during a snowstorm was awesome. Paths are bit of a mud bath at present due to building work (new lodges getting built near by) sure will be fine once complete. But in the country in april so had suitable footwear anyway. Local village shop/pub only 20 min walk and Redesdale pub short drive was very friendly with lovely food. Lodge was modern and welcome basket a lovely touch."

"Splendid cottage and host. Good location with lovely surroundings and views, very spacious and lots of character, with a good traditional kitchen. Only gripes would be, while I know the beds fit in with the character of the cottage, they could be bigger for a good nights sleep. The TV and wifi is in serious need of updating, not important for adults, but these days, if you're bringing kids, they need entertaining in the evening and a functioning TV and a wifi signal that can reach beyond the kitchen would help. Also, pleeease heat the pool!"
