      What patio chairs -really dirty.

Patio table n chairs - dirty. BBQ - dirty and rusty. Swing ball corroded, bats, ball n shuttlecock left over garden No rotary washing line Food left in cupboards from previous holidaymakers. Kettle stale water inside with lots of scale. No cups, oversized mugs- had to buy our own. Windows filthy, could have cleaned front windows, especially overlooking stream. Stargate at top of stairs a hazard. Hot water in both bathrooms just trickled. No plug near dressing table- had to plug in by bed and stand in bathroom doorway Toilet pan in on suite - marked. Hoover very little suction. Bin men came refused to take bin, already had bags inside from previous holiday makers. - began to smell Overall view if duck cottage For the price paid of £1680 expections of this idylic cottage was not up to our expectations. Not ideal for elderly that have issues or signs to accommodate those with walking aids or wheelchair use . It was a challenge with the steps and stairs. The cleanliness of the cottage should have been of a high standard. In vacating the property at 10am , alittle to much with what we all had to do, Strip beds, clean around, tidying up, hoovering, sweeping back and front, Getting ourselves sorted, breakfast. We all thought 12pm would have been better as the supposingly cleaners still would come in and have 3 hours. The location was as said idylic and the people from the village all very friendly, but unfortunately our family would not return to this cottage

This place was amazing, there were 5 adults and a dog and we all had a fantastic chilling holiday.

All the welcoming treats were lovely, warm croissants and danishes as soon as we got there. The basket of coffee pods and tbags, nutritional bars, milk and sugar. The best was the bottle of wine (waddling duck) to match the theme of the cottage and the Port and Baileys which we all enjoyed. It was lovely to watch the ducks, birds, dogs and children paddle in the stream right outside our cottage (including a few adults). The Cider, Dog and Sausage Festival was lovely on the sunday over "The Springhead", which was great, live music and lovely food and drink, and dog friendly. The rooms in the cottage were clean and comfortable, the mini toiletries were also a great touch. Plenty of utensils in the kitchen and hairdryers in Double rooms and showers were great. Plenty of storage in kitchen and bedrroms. We also enjoyed chilling in the garden and having a couple of bbqs. The footpaths and fields were great to take the dog for walks every day and Prston is only a mile up the road to walk to 2 chip shops, papershop/co-op and 2 other pubs. The Bridge pub did great food too. The only thing that would have made it better is if there was a downstairs toilet, there was a locked room outside to the left of the back door, maybe that could be turned into a toilet as one of our group was disabled. Thank you for the hire of a lovely welcoming cottage, will definitely be returning with friends next year

Lovely cottage in a beautiful setting overlooking a small duck pond and the Springhead Pub.

We were unable to gain access to the property until 16.30pm due to the cleaners running behind. No big deal and it gave us an opportunity to walk the dog around the village. The property was pleasant and there was a nice welcome pack for us our dog. We didn’t spend too much time at the cottage, and it was centrally located for the things that we wanted to do and see. We visited the Springhead pub a few times and found one of the elder female members of the team to be consistently grumpy throughout our stay. We understand the cottage is owned by the same owners and you receive a 10% discount on food and drink. Despite spending c £400 in the pub throughout the week, we were occasionally challenged on the usage of the discount if we were ordering drinks without food. This made us venture into Weymouth and try the delightful Rockfish restaurant and Dorchester where we enjoyed eating at Drgnfly. We would certainly have eaten more in the Springhead had we felt more welcomed by this one member of staff. We noted a brick BBQ in the garden which was a nice touch and although we didn’t use it, it was great to have that option. We have already recommended this cottage to friends as it was overall a delightful stay.

This is the second year we have stayed at your lovely property.

The accommodation is ideal as so close to the harbour/beach and surrounding areas. Having a reserved parking space is a real bonus. This year the light in the bathroom, flickered throughout the stay. One night around 23.30hrs there was a very loud vibrating noise right across the apartment which seemed to stem from the bathroom ceiling the bathroom tap/fan was being used at the time. It did not stop for some time and not until the fan stopped. The whole block must have heard it. The towels provided were obviously new with is great but led to the towels fabric rubbing off and covering us and clothes etc. I had to wash and dry them before we could continue to use them. I did report the noise/light in the apartment. We were asked if it was ok for maintenance to attend whilst we were out, we were not asked to leave our keys so presumed they had their own set? I am unsure if they attended but if they did they left the relevant key code on the box without disguising it. The light was still problematic when we left and the noise settled but could still be heard from the adjoining ground floor flat. I would recommend Brewer's Retreat to any one, apart from the maintenance issue we had a great stay. Thank you

We had such a lovely stay in Duck Cottage.

A beautiful holiday home in an outstanding area. We were initially concerned about staying opposite to a pub, but it was very quiet. The cottage was very clean upon arrival and a perfect size for a family of four (plus dog). The kids loved playing on the stepping stones across the river and our dog loved the walks around the fields, 5 mins from the front door. The welcoming basket was very much appreciated - especially the book of Dorset walks, which we used quite a lot. We did have a few minor niggles - we simply could not figure out the TV (even our tech-savy 14 year old struggled) and we spent most of our evenings up in the main bedroom watching the TV up there - this was a shame, as the living room hardly got used in the end. Our black bin was half full when we arrived, leaving us very little room to put our own rubbish in and we missed the bin collection day, not knowing when it was. There was quite a knack to locking the back door, but we figured it out in the end. The duvets were all VERY Heavy (tog 15) for a summer stay! That said, we would certainly stay again and very much enjoyed our time there, so thank you Duck Cottage!
