The house has clearly had a good level of investment in recent times and is well decorated, very clean and tidy with new boiler, white goods, TV.
We had a good stay (apart from parking nonsense belowâ¦) with easy walking access to the harbour and beach. The beds were comfortable and the bathroom was large with a good size bath and plenty of water, although itâs not possible to have a âstand upâ shower as the ceiling height prevents this. The downstairs toilet should have an extractor fan fitted and there is some further âmaking goodâ required to the house brickwork maintenance. (Painting) Nevertheless we were pleased with the house. PARKING IS A MINEFIELD AND SPOILED OUR STAY! Access is tight for cars. On street parking is not impossible. We were expecting to empty the car in front of the house and then find parking. Unloading is tricky as there is no pavement and space for one car on the single lane narrow road â so if a car comes you need to drive around the block or reverse into a very tight space indeed. A kind adjacent neighbour told us that the gravel strip to the south east of the property was permissible for parking to all. We parked there and on return were both blocked in and greeted with an unpleasant note. The note claimed we took three slotsâ¦â¦â¦â¦â¦â¦. Not true The note said itâs residents onlyâ¦â¦â¦â¦â¦â¦â¦â¦â¦..Not correct The note made reference to preventing emergency accessâ¦â¦ we made no difference to emergency access in any way - a ridiculous comment. The Note made derogatory comments. Thereâs clearly a level of territorial self-entitlement nonsense about rights to parking and access for residents only on this wasteland. A âMrs Cooperâ from Franchise Street left the poorly considered and untrue vitriolic note. We were unable to locate or discuss this with her. The parking problems prevented us from being able to check out on time. (about 30 mins.) The cleaner arrived, stood in the street and would not communicate with us as at all and pretended to be on the phone to avoid communicating in any way. We would have gladly allowed her in the house but the lady wouldnât even raise her head. I did ask her if she knew Mrs Cooper and she said no and then looked at her phone again. A bad end to a pleasant stay. Tips: Pre Plan parking off site and expect to pay up to £24 per day and be careful of hefty fines

Loved the location with its sea views.
I'm a people watcher so chose the apartment because of this! It is on second floor and has stairs up to it. There are apartments above and below it and gift shop on ground floor. Very central for beach , town and harbour and marina. Spotlessly clean, decor was modern and luxurious. All mod cons , shower was amazing . TV was top of range and added bonus of tv in bedroom. Kitchen was fully equipped , again brand new and modern. The colour scheme of grey and silver ran through to the crockery too. Coffee machine was a bonus. Tea, coffee sachets of milk and sugar were provided as was selection of condiments.Luxurious thick throws were provided to keep sofas clean. Loved the mirrorred style of coffee table, dressing table , bedside cabinets and wardrobe. Everything matched and lots of thought had gone into it. Lots of hangers provided for clothes and ironing board in hallway if needed. Hairdryer stored in wardrobe, saves packing one. The bed linen was crisp and white and pillows thick and bouncy. Heating was easy to control. Key lock was easy to operate. Welcome pack provided with operating instructions for all appliances as well as maps and leaflets on local attractions. Shops and cafes on doorstep. Bus stops right outside and timetables in welcome folder. Overall, we were absolutely delighted with the apartment. Communication by text from Mike was brilliant, very informative with a personal touch. I was confident that if I needed anything at all, he would guide and advise. I have already shared the details of this apartment with my friends and will definitely be looking to rebook soon. Thank you Mike.

By far, this is the best holiday accommodation my wife and I have stayed in within the last 10-years!
This sea view apartment has been renovated to an extremely high standard. All fixtures, fittings and decor are of top quality, helping to create a really luxurious and spacious place to stay, unwind and relax. The kitchen is well equipped for self catering. Although we tended to eat out most evenings (we are keen âfoodiesâ and there are so many great places to try out around the harbour), we did cook for ourselves on occasions and found we had all the utensils we needed for cooking. The welcome pack which has been thoughtfully provided by the hosts, offers useful information on the apartment to maximise all the accommodation affords, as well as what to see and do in the local area. Although there is no private parking spaces, there are a number of local car parks within easy walking distance so this is not a problem. The apartment is perfectly located to explore Weymouth and the surrounding area. We particularly enjoyed wandering the lanes surrounding the harbour as well as the park and grounds of Nothe fort and Bennetts Water Gardens (a really hidden gem). A boat trip out into the bay and round to Portland harbour helped to show off the wonderful Jurassic coastline ⦠as well as a welcomed sea breeze when the heat become a little too intense! Lulworth Cove and Durdle Door are a short drive away and well worth a visit. Weâre already considering when we will return for another stay.

Lovely cottage in a beautiful setting overlooking a small duck pond and the Springhead Pub.
We were unable to gain access to the property until 16.30pm due to the cleaners running behind. No big deal and it gave us an opportunity to walk the dog around the village. The property was pleasant and there was a nice welcome pack for us our dog. We didnât spend too much time at the cottage, and it was centrally located for the things that we wanted to do and see. We visited the Springhead pub a few times and found one of the elder female members of the team to be consistently grumpy throughout our stay. We understand the cottage is owned by the same owners and you receive a 10% discount on food and drink. Despite spending c £400 in the pub throughout the week, we were occasionally challenged on the usage of the discount if we were ordering drinks without food. This made us venture into Weymouth and try the delightful Rockfish restaurant and Dorchester where we enjoyed eating at Drgnfly. We would certainly have eaten more in the Springhead had we felt more welcomed by this one member of staff. We noted a brick BBQ in the garden which was a nice touch and although we didnât use it, it was great to have that option. We have already recommended this cottage to friends as it was overall a delightful stay.

We had such a lovely stay in Duck Cottage.
A beautiful holiday home in an outstanding area. We were initially concerned about staying opposite to a pub, but it was very quiet. The cottage was very clean upon arrival and a perfect size for a family of four (plus dog). The kids loved playing on the stepping stones across the river and our dog loved the walks around the fields, 5 mins from the front door. The welcoming basket was very much appreciated - especially the book of Dorset walks, which we used quite a lot. We did have a few minor niggles - we simply could not figure out the TV (even our tech-savy 14 year old struggled) and we spent most of our evenings up in the main bedroom watching the TV up there - this was a shame, as the living room hardly got used in the end. Our black bin was half full when we arrived, leaving us very little room to put our own rubbish in and we missed the bin collection day, not knowing when it was. There was quite a knack to locking the back door, but we figured it out in the end. The duvets were all VERY Heavy (tog 15) for a summer stay! That said, we would certainly stay again and very much enjoyed our time there, so thank you Duck Cottage!
