About this property

Preston 1.8 miles. Norden Cottage, is a characterful, three-bedroom property resting in Osmington, a small, well-preserved village on the Jurassic coast of Dorset. The village is situated in an area of outstanding natural beauty (AONB) on the official inland South West coast path with walks straight on the doorstep. The cottage offers off-road parking, an enclosed garden, wood burning stove, and is well-positioned to nearby amenities. Norden Cottage invites five guests and two furry friends to stay. On entering the property, you are welcomed into a sitting room, where you can relax and unwind watching movies, while you warm your toes by the wood burning stove. Dine together, sharing all your favourite memories of the holiday, after the designated chef takes a step into the well-equipped, farmhouse-style kitchen to cook up some scrumptious meals. As the evening grows darker, head upstairs to discover the freestanding bath, to soak in after a long day of exploration, and then catch your rest in one of the three inviting bedrooms.

Visit Craigs Dairy Farm, shop and tea rooms in the village, serving cream teas, breakfasts, light lunches, homemade ice cream and milk from dairy cows in the surrounding fields. A short drive away is The Smuggler's Inn, a 17th century thatched inn next to the sea, or The Springhead Pub and Restaurant, a few minutes in the car or a mile stroll across the fields, with views of the White Horse, a monument to King George the III cut into the hillside of Osmington in 1808. Nearby is Weymouth, a vibrant seaside town with a wealth of attractions, shops, pubs and restaurants. Visit the harbour, Nothe Fort, SeaLife centre and of course the stunning beach. Visit Ringstead Bay, a two mile drive to this stunning National Trust beach, or a few miles further to Lulworth Cove and the world heritage limestone arch at Durdle Door. For a spot of shopping, visit the bustling town of Dorchester with its Museums or its newest facility Brewery Square with a variety of quality shops, restaurants and pubs. Enjoy a coastal escape to Dorset with friends and family by booking Norden Cottage.

Preston is a large, thriving village in the heart of East Kent. Dating back to the Iron Age and mentioned in the Doomsday Book, this lovely village boasts a pub, butchers, farm shop, village stores and even a garden nursery that has achieved nationwide fame for its exotic range of plants! The annual Steam Rally and ploughing matches at Preston Court are popular events on the village calendar, offering an exciting time for all ages and attracts visitors from far afield. With demonstrations in steam and horse ploughing, dog agility displays and ferret racing to displays of classic cars, motorbikes and military vehicles, this is not any quiet country show; there is even a funfair in the evening. At other times of the year Preston Court is a popular wedding venue, and was once owned by Juliana de Leybourne who pronounced it as her favourite residence. The area around Preston is a walker’s paradise. Why not explore Denge Wood, renowned for its orchids and butterflies? The Saxon shoreline and North Downs, which follows much of the Pilgrim's Way, is also easily accessible from the village. Preston is within an easy distance to Wingham, Littlebourne, Ickham and Wichambreaux and all four villages boast pubs serving excellent food. For a day of culture and sightseeing then why not visit the historic city of Canterbury? Ramble around ruins, tread cobble streets, and take in the atmosphere of this beautiful city in all its glory. Or why not make for Whitstable and sample the oysters at a harbour-side restaurant, just one of the things this coastal town is famous for? Always a popular haunt of stars of stage and screen, Whitstable is still home to many famous actors. After a busy day out, why not return to the tranquillity of Preston with its birdsong and serenity to relax before another adventurous day?

..and treats for the dog. The village is a quaint English village with many thatched cottages and barn conversions. It is possible to walk straight from the cottage across fields to the coast. A short drive and you can see Corfe Castle , Lulworth Cove, Durdle Door and much more. In the evening we enjoyed lighting the wood burning stove (logs and kindling supplied) and watching a film. A mop and bucket would have helped to keep the floor clean when entering on a rainy day. We would recommend this cottage to couples and families and their dogs!
