"We stayed at Canute Cottage for the Christmas period and we had the most wonderfully relaxing Christmas ever away from the hussle and bustle in this very quaint, very charming cottage. The owners had decorated it very tastefully with lovely tree and decorations to give a Christmassy feel. I'd like to say it was a home from home but it was actually much cosier than that! The only snags were that the parking was not ideal for our family car although a smaller car may have tucked into the tiny plot immediately in front of the house (think Smart car, Mini etc) anything bigger would need to use the in street parking on the Main Street or one of the public car parks. Also, the cottage isn't as pet friendly as it suggests as there is only a very small paved courtyard to the rear of the property which wasnt suitable for exercising a dog. Also with a toddler about and open access to two lots of steep stairs, a stair gate would have been a good idea. Had I realised there wasn't one we'd have taken one but thought this was a basic safety item which had been missed. Travel cot and high chair were provided though which was great and meant less things to have to take ourselves. We would definately consider revisiting Canute Cottage but without our little dog as it was very difficult to keep her contained and dogs are not allowed to be left in the cottage so we had to take her everywhere with us which wouldn't be the case at home. On the whole Canute Cotrage is a very comfortable, well equipt cottage, we had a lovely Christmas there and would go back again. "

"We loved his cottage and it was almost perfect for us. We are not typical as we were staying there for an escape from a family emergency. It was very last minute and was pretty much all that was available. However for the time of year the price was reasonable. There were lovely extras i.e. decorations and candles, crackers and party poppers, lovely treaty cakes on the table. I was fairly traumatised from dealing with ill frightened parents so to be in such a pretty place made me feel very cosseted.I have given 8 for location because it is quite a trek back to Weymouth. Also though our dog was welcome we had to be up early to take her quite a way for her first thing in the morning wee. I mistakenly thought the green in the photo belonged to the cottage but it turned out to be someone else's.We would definitely stay again if we didn't have the dog and if it was somewhere else. We would normally stay with friends or family when in Wemouth. We would recommend this cottage to other couples who were wanting to holiday in weymouth."

"Had a fantastic week on Portland /Weymouth. Canute Cottage was charming, although an olde cottage built out of Portland stone, the Cottage had all the modern amineties but still manage to keep its olde world charm.Very intimate, comfortable Cottage,We all fell in love with Canute Cottage. We don't think you can find a better place for a family holiday. We found the Portland locals to be so friendly and helpful.Special mention to local shop workers and the staff at the local pub [The Brittania ].Naturally there is disadvantages ,narrow steeps stairs to third floor bedroom,Portland is very hilly, car parking limited near the cottage but nothing that can not be overcome .The owner of Canute Cottage was so helpful,The welcoming gift of cake and tea making was most welcome. overall a fantastic holiday in a fantastic cottage."

"The cottage was very clean and cosy, the kitchen had every appliance, the t.v/dvd was small and cables had to be changed. We had trouble with the heating, which we could not work and the little fire didn’t work,as the weather was appallingly wet and cold we could have done with heat and somewhere to hang our wet coats, etc. Parking was on the High Street, which didn’t cause us too much of a problem. The small courtyard was a misnomer as it had no space for the dogs to exercise, however the beach was only across the road and a small public garden nearby. Our holiday was cut short because of the weather, but given some sunshine it could have been a good place to stay as a base, particularly for lovers of water sports. The welcome package was very brilliant. June 2012. "

"We had a lovely break at Trevina in cold February. Some of the rooms were a bit chilly but the lounge was cozy especially on sunny days and we used the kitchen more than the dining room for meals. We liked the fresh flowers and supplies, the dog friendly garden, the books, the information, the outlook from the house over the green and the peace and quiet. I enjoyed the big bath and hot water. The locals were friendly and we enjoyed exploring Portland and Weymouth. If you visit in February you will need scarves, hats and gloves when you are walking as it can be a very chill wind but lovely scenery. I had the best home made scone at the café at Portland Bill and we loved Weymouth beach on sunny days. Regular buses to Weymouth from Portland. Thank you."
