    Holiday cottages in Wimborne

Wimborne, or Wimborne Minster, is a market town that lies at the confluence of the Riven Allen and the River Stour in South East Dorset. The town is home to one of the largest collections of intact 15th, 16th, and 17th-century buildings in the county, and possibly the nation. Local restrictions on modern development aim to preserve this important built heritage.

Shops, pubs, hotels, churches and the town hall all provide a delightful historical setting, although there are also some modern features. These include a 1930s Art Deco cinema and theatre. The Saxon church after which the town is named is famed for its Chained Library and boasts several famous tombs made of Dorset limestone and New Forest stone.

Wimborne is a charming town and its exceptional beauty lies in its heritage and noble tranquillity. Holiday cottages in Wimborne include pet-friendly homes and those ideal for children, all backed by our best price guarantee. At Snaptrip we offer thousands of properties across the UK, along with special offers and discounts, so you're sure to find exactly the right place for your stay.

What our customers say about their holidays

    • Dr Gibson - Verified booking

Dulcima Cottage was a warm and welcoming place to arrive to on a damp and gloomy Saturday in the week before Christmas. The cottage was spotlessly clean, and very comfortable, particularly the beds. The kitchen is well provided for (especially if you are doing 'real' self-catering), and the welcome treats of chocolate biscuits, four pints of milk (not the usual token one or two pints), and bottle of prosecco were a nice surprise. Since we were close to Christmas, it was nice to see a lit Christmas tree and some decorations making the cottage even more homely. The garden is large with many facilities, and if you have small children there is a slide, climbing frame and swings to keep them entertained. The only down side is that after driving into the property's entrance, the only realistic way to exit is to reverse onto a busy road, which is closer to the front of the property than the photo suggests. However, since the main cottage entrance is at the rear within the enclosed garden, there is no real issue for people on foot. Overall this is a good location for visiting many parts of Dorset, or just for local walks to the many nature reserves and open spaces.

This cottage is in an ideal location for those who want to get out and about. It is within easy distance of Poole and Bournemouth and there are other good places to visit close by. We enjoyed Monkey World and Moors Valley country park. Farmer Palmers Farm is great for little ones. The property is nicely extended from the 17th Century cottage. It is however very close to the busy road and there is road noise in the rooms at the front of the property. There is a nice garden and we enjoyed using the barbecue hut to toast marshmallows one evening. The seating area in the lounge is not really suited to more than four people and this could be improved. It is a warm property but the owners did provide fans in most rooms if needed.

My wife and I stayed with our 6 month old baby for a few nights. Marta was a great host and checked all our requirements for our baby, providing a quality high chair and cot that we got good use out of. The cottage itself is right in the centre of Wimborne, it is clean, classy and comfortable. It has everything we needed (washing machine, dishwasher, fridge freezer, oven and hob) and additional things we got good use out of too (coffee machine was great!). The garden is really well sized and would definitely be good for sitting out in as there are two seating areas. If we come back to Dorset, we would definitely look to stay here again!

Perfect location. Lovely gastro-pub close by. Bus route passes-by outside to the local town and onward to Bournemouth/Poole. Supermarket 1 mile in other direction. Cottage, garden and parking ideal. We were a group of over 60's and all agreed that this is a very comfortable cottage. The passing traffic outside did not affect us in anyway. The beautiful garden was enjoyed every evening. We had regular visitations from Squirrels, Robins, Magpies, etc. We would not hesitate to re-visit this property in the future.

Both the house and garden were very spacious, comfortable and well equipped. We had everything we needed for a lovely family holiday. We were particularly impressed with how the house catered for small children - high chairs, stair gates, bed guards and even a monitor. The house is close to all kinds of attractions and beaches, and there's a great pub within easy walking distance. The only negative is that the house is on a busy road and it can be difficult to drive out without someone looking out for traffic.
