What our customers say about their holidays

We may be the first to review The Grain Silo as it’s fairly new, so hopefully many more reviews to come… we just had the most incredible 4 days staying in this haven of tranquility and it ticked every single box. We love this area of Dorset and try to find quirky places to stay. We initially looked for somewhere with a sea view, which this doesn’t quite have but it’s so near the coast anyway and the views were drop dead gorgeous, we made the right choice. The Silo itself is an architectural success and it’s amazing how light and airy it is inside and how much space there is!! The living area and kitchen really do work well and the bedroom is fantastic with the ceiling reaching up to the full height of the silo, a lovely domed feature. With the balcony door open, it’s a stunning place to be, just listening to nature and even more of that view…. Wow! The photos don’t do it justice, sat having a glass of something or reading a book, looking across a paddock with horses gently grazing in front of you, the field disappearing away to woodland below and the Dorset countryside reaching out far into the distance. At the top of the slope a stunning church and to the left farm outbuildings / equestrian centre that look just right with the trees sloping away up the hill behind. One of the most peaceful places we’ve visited and there’s an array of wildlife all around, from all the birds flitting about, housemartins flying right up to the balcony window, owls hooting as dusk falls and deer seemingly everywhere!! We would not hesitate to recommend / return. Andy and Shelley have clearly sunk a lot of time and effort into getting the conversion to the brilliant standard it is. They were close by if anything was needed but very relaxed and just left us to enjoy our stay. Thanks again for a wonderful break and keep up the good work, you’ve already achieved great things here and we hope more to come!!

Fantastic venue, the property was just what needed, size, location as we were coming from different locations, families wanted to be together but also part of the larger family group.

The Kitchen is really the hub of the house which suited us so well. All bedrooms and linen were clean and had everything you need. We would have liked to have had more control over the heating as at times it got cold has the heating was off from early afternoon through to early evening, we had two elderly with us, so they felt the cold more. We did contact the Housekeeper on the Saturday and she immediately turned up the heating for us from her App, it would just be nice to have more control yourself as the house was then again very hot overnight, its seems the timing needs a little adjustment. For one of the bedrooms upstairs you need to walk through another to get to the bathroom or to go downstairs, this could be an issue for friends staying. It wasn't particularly for us but we felt it should be mentioned in the property details. Otherwise a perfect long weekend for our family stay, thank you

A lovely house, it suited the two of us well.

We didn’t use the rooms upstairs. BUT A king size bed needs king size bedding, not just double size. The fan in the shower room did not work. The worktop lights in the kitchen did not work. We never found out how to turn on the hob fan and lights. The drawer containing the manuals needs to be organised for easy reference, and broken equipment discarded. There were no spare keys. The drive access is a problem which could ruin many holidays. Rights of way carry responsibilities, which seem to be ignored by tradesmen and others who might not understand the concept. A friendly, respectful, patient approach to the neighbours by the owner might yield benefits in restoring relations. Our strong suggestion is that the owner should create a new access from the road on the other side of the tree. The right of way could then be cancelled or bought out by the neighbours.

Firstly West Lulworth is a very pleasant village with easy access to Lulworth Cove a beatuiful place.

Unfortunately for the first time feel let down since I started using Sykes Cottages. On first arrival at St Mary's Chapel I tough this will be great base for our holiday. I wasn't lonf though before I notice that the living room furniture was covered in pet hairs so the first job was to start vacuuming the furniture, not an ideal start! Then the little annoying things, no teapot (we're no all coffee drinkers). No egg cups, and lacking cooking utensils in particular tongs. Loose tap in the bathroom, didn't know whether if the tap was going to come off all together, I'm not a plumber!. Some of these things might seem a bit petty but considering the price paid for this holiday, I think the place should have been spotless (particularly in view of the COVID situation) and with all fixtures and fitting in order.

Had a wonderful stay at 2 Court Farm.

Perfect location for the peace and quiet I was craving and the property was a good size. My 2 dogs thoroughly enjoyed the local walks, and the enclosed garden was great for them too…sadly I had to collect around 6 large diarrhoea stools from the back garden (left by previous occupants) to prevent my dogs running in it and bringing it into the house. I figured the double bed was because the room wouldn’t facilitate anything larger but the room was huge and the bed rather small. I think they could all do with replacing since the single bed my daughter slept in was very creaky. I also would have liked a larger more comfortable sofa arrangement to have been able to enjoy the log burner more…it was very small and hard. All in all we had a lovely break but some home comforts were missing for me.
