What our customers are saying about our New Year Cottages In Northumberland To Rent.

"Visited S14403 early April. Beautiful surroundings and considering it’s on a working farm it was considerably quiet of farm noise. The condition of the cottage needs updating but I suppose the outdated farm cottage look adds to its quaintess and appeal. Beds are really comfy. Loved the log fire especially on a cold winters night. Could do with some extra being added to it like toilet roll, hand wash and washing up liquid. Choccy cake was delicious and beautiful touch with flowers around the cottage. Alnwick is beautiful especially the castle and it’s garden. Farne Island is a must and Bambrugh Castle is worth a visit to. Our whole holiday was wonderful and I just adored visiting the three farm pigs on an evening and giving them carrots and having a stroke of them. Will return again if we visit Northumbria in the future as there is so much we never got a chance to see or do."

"Very clean and comfortable apartment with a very well stocked kitchen. The furniture was comfy and well laid out and the kitchen had more crockery and utensils than larger places we've stayed at, including a full sized fridge freezer and easy to use oven. The location is perfect for dogs, a minute from the beautiful beach and promenade and the apartment has a lovely enclosed courtyard. There's not much in Spittal itself but there is a great little shop, a couple of pubs and cafe and amusements on the promenade. It's the perfect base for exploring the Northumberland coast and Scottish Borders. Berwick is about a 20/30 minute walk depending on speed. Jean is a fantastic host and left a lovely welcome basket of biscuits, honey, jam, wine and milk. We had an amazing 2 weeks and will definitely return. I would highly recommend Aidens and couldn't fault anything."

"S69493 is a lovely house with a "wildlife garden". It was lovely to see all the birds and hear them twittering each day. The owner is very nice and helpful but I feel we were mislead when we booked as I always ask for a pub and shop nearby. The shop sells nothing but papers, out of date milk, bread a few tins and masses of second hand books. I would recommend driving a few miles to the Boat Inn on Kielder Water for a good meal and decent beer as we found the Anglers nearby to be unwelcoming and dismal the three times we used it. A little dog runs about the place, jumping on the seats, is allowed behind the bar and I presume also in the kitchen!!! The three "real ales" we tried were not good and we settled for the cider. The surrounding area however is outstanding and if you like walking or cycling, this is the place to go."

"S69493 was a home away from home, high quality furniture and finish. Can’t fault it as a holiday cottage, we were very comfortable as a family of 5. A couple of points to note, Kielder is in the middle of nowhere, loads of walking and cycling etc in the area but if you plan to visit places out of area you will be doing a lot of driving. It takes a good 90 minutes to get across to Alnwick Castle for example. Also if you have young children take some blackout blinds with you as the blinds are thin. The Waterside Park down the road has great amenities, children’s play areas, bird sanctuary and a shop but generally you’ll need to bring what you need with you! The cottage is fully equipped for cooking, we ate most evening meals there. I’m sure we’ll visit again."

"We had a lovely time at S59195, the cottage is lovely and in such a great location. We felt really comfortable there and settled in the minute we arrived. Everything was wonderful, but if I was nit-picking I would suggest the following:The key to the front door doesn't work from outside (I had to call the office and get someone to let me in as I only took that key with me). Not really a problem, but either need to mention it only locks from inside or repair the lock. The bathroom is lovely but a little cold - either a larger radiator or a large towel rail would be good in there. These are really only minor things that certainly didn't spoil our holiday - oh maybe just one more thing - if you could make sure the sun is shining if we visit again! xx"
