"A charming little cottage in a lovely village in a quieter part of the Lakes. It is attractively presented in a rustic country style. The bedroom is particularly nice with good storage and a very comfortable bed. The bedding and towels were very nice. The bathroom is good, although it's a pity that the heater wasn't working. A heated towel rail would be a good idea. There is a very efficient water heater and an electric shower. Although it was August the evenings were cool. Once we'd got the heating going, the cottage was lovely and warm. We lit the fire on a few evenings and as the cottage was so small it heated the whole house and was really cosy. The downstairs was extremely small although very comfortable. Upstairs seemed so much larger, probably due to the higher ceiling. It was hard to find places to put things in the kitchen but it had all the equipment we needed. A small porch or shelter outside the front door would be a good addition especially in the rain. The patio area was really lovely with good planting and there was access to a lawned area useful for the dog. While the patio was fully enclosed the lawn was part of the owner's garden so the dog had to be closely supervised. The owner was very pleasant and friendly but not intrusive. Bouth is a nice little village with a good pub serving great food. There are good walks from the door and an easy distance to Coniston and Windermere. We had a late booking price reduction on the cottage and, while it is absolutely delightful, we do not feel that it is worth the full price even in high season, mainly due to the size of the living space. We had a lovely time though and really enjoyed staying here. Thank you."

"We had a lovely stay at S18582. The cottage was lovely and small, cosy and quaint which made it the perfect romantic get away. The cottage is perfect for two (+ a dog). The open fire was a particularly welcome touch; we bought wood from a local farm (literally 30 seconds walk away!) and enjoyed listening to music with a glass of wine whilst cosied up in front of the roaring fire every night. The cottage has all the amenities you need for a comfortable and cosy stay away. Location wise Bouth is a lovely quiet village with great walks on the doorstep, a fab little local pub (1 minute walk from the cottage), a farm selling wood and fresh eggs and another farm selling fresh milk and boasting a tea shop. Bouth is a short drive to Ulverston, a fab little market town with nice pubs, cafes and shops, a Laurel and Hardy museum and a fabulous Art Deco cinema (a must!). It takes just over an hour to get to Wasdale where you can take on Scafell Pike, about half an hour to get to Ambleside/Windermere/ Kendal and 20 minutes to Coniston. We felt that Bouth offered the perfect mix of being a secluded and peaceful oasis without being too far from the main routes up to the lakes and the mountains or down to the coast. The final point to note is how great Jean, the owner of the cottage is. S18582 is next door to Jean’s own property and so she was on hand to offer assistance and friendly tips where requested which was really helpful but she also remained very respectful of our privacy and was not intrusive in the slightest. We cannot thank Jean enough for being such a great host and look forward to returning to S18582 in the future."

"We holiday in cottages at least 4 times a year and have done for the last 20 years. This cottage was the worst by far that we have ever used. The whole property is in desperate need of attention. Every item in the place was dirty we had to clean things before we used them, the microwave, the kettle the door handles, the stair banister, the TV and controls, the CD player the list is endless, all were dirty with weeks of grim and filthy. The sofas were covered in dog hair, the shower was disgusting and didn’t work properly, the bathroom was... well we didn’t even use it. The fridge was disgusting, the freezer was frozen up.The oven works when it feels like it. The smell from the dishwasher was unbearable so we didn’t use it. The parking is awkward the roadside parking would only be suitable for a small car. The garden while having a nice view was mostly just overgrown, the lawn had been cut. We had to go and buy a relaxer chair as the chairs provided are threadbare. The patio and steps are dangerous and uneven not recommended for children or the elderly. Our house was have some work done otherwise we would have returned home. The final straw was our old dog picking up a flea infestation,we complained, cottages.com were very good about our complaints but couldn’t offer other accommodation as our dog would have transferred fleas to the next property. We did get a price reduction from the owner which didn’t even cover the vets bill.If you are looking for a holiday with difference this cottage is for you, if your after a relaxing strees free break well....To finish on a bright note. The bed was comfy."

"The furnishings were nicely done and it made the cottage homely and comfortable. It was well equipped. It's in a good location south of Windermere with pubs and hotels within a few miles if you wish to eat out. There is a shop at the garage a few miles away. It's only about an hours drive up to the northern lakes so this cottage is a good base for the whole lakes area. There is no central heating and the storage heaters had been switched off so we were a bit cold downstairs on the first night, it wasn't worth lighting the fire and there was an electric portable heater in the lounge. The bedroom heater was fine for taking the chill off in the bedroom. We ate out every night and by far the best place was nearby Burlingtons Restaurant at the Beech Hill Hotel, good food and a wonderful location. We also ate at the Newby Bridge Hotel and thought that was a lovely meal too."

"Fab location if you want remote. Not easy to find but worth the struggle. Downside: noisy neighbours!, no drainage from shower/bath, no extractor fan working in bathroom, old cooker where you cant see temp dials so have to guess, wood burning stove doesn't work very well(thankfully wasn't middle of winter), hopeless TV connection (gave up!). Garderners turned up early on last day which really spoilt our privacy. Check out is 10am so they shouldn't be there until after 10am. They did listen to my verbal complaint and went away. Positive: beautifully presented, very clean (except for bath/shower drainage issue)fab location (remote and difficult to find; need mirror across from entrance/exit to avoid collision), hot tub, the deer! Would we come again? Yes providing all of above negatives sorted."
