"Very disappointing. The owners seemed not to care. As requested we phoned the owners in the week before our arrival to say that although we were booked from the friday we would not in fact arrive until the saturday. They said that they would be away on saturday at a wedding in Scotland but would make sure that "someone" would be on site to welcome us, show us around, and deal with any issues. Nobody was there. We saw the owners once just before we left at the end of our stay. The hot water ran out after 24 hours. We discovered that the hot-water heater had been turned off. The kitchen was minimally equipped. For example there was no frying pan, and barely sufficient crockery for six. There was a bbq (as advertised) but it lacked a gas tank. The clothes drier seemed not to work and there was no operators manual. Several light sockets lacked a bulb, the tv connection was faulty (I fixed it), the heating was difficult to figure out and control, There was no explanation of how the power remotely controlled gates worked. The resident dogs regularly used the back lawn as a toilet (good job there were no children in our party). The comments in the guest book mentioned many of these same issues, which suggests that the owners should have been aware of these deficiencies but didn't do anything about them. The rent was increased for that week, it being the UK half-term, which made the deficiencies harder to accept. It's a pity. The location is excellent, and the rural ambiance is delightful."

"A lovely week spent with friends in an even lovelier cottage. Glen Garth is a really nice , we'll equipped cosy cottage. On arrival we were greeted by the owners niece who was extremely friendly and helpful. The cottage has a well equipped kitchen , dining room , gorgeous cosy lounge and three good size bedrooms, with comfy beds and crisp white bedding The garden has far reaching views across the valley. It's in such a quiet peaceful area it was lovely to sit out in the sun and enjoy the views. We even sat out one night to do some star gazing. The owner of the cottage Judith called down a couple of times to check we were all okay , she also gave us tips and ideas on where to visit and where to go to eat and drink. We had some great chats but this was not intrusive at all. There are a number of great walks minutes away from the cottage we walked to poltress burn milecastle , we also did a seven mile circular walk to Birdoswald Roman fort then walked back along Hadrian's walk back to Glen Garth. We would definitely stay again . Fantastic place in a beautiful setting ,if you want a peaceful, relaxing holiday this is the place for you. Corbridge and Hexham nearby are lovely , Hexham old town jail and Hexham Abbey are well worth a visit . Thankyou , from the girls from Leeds ."

"I very spacious cottage that was well equipped for our stay. Personally we found the mattress too soft. And in the age of technology, wifi would have been a huge advantage. However, the beach was lovely and was only a few minutes walk. We took a stroll one evening and were amazed at the amount of jellyfish!! (We had never seen so many). There is a pele castle across the road from the house and whilst there we had a leaflet pushed through about archeologists doing survey work in the nearby areas surrounding the castle. (Very exciting). We had complimentary tea, coffee, milk and chocolate upon arrival, which was lovely, as well as bottles of water per person. It had the added bonus of stair gates which was fabulous when having twin two year olds."

"A lovely time away..... very peaceful and secluded position just north of Wooler. Excellent pub (10 min walk), excellent food and service. 30 mins to the beautiful coast and dunes. We were there for a trip for my Dad (aged 85) to track down any living relatives - not many ! But we managed lovely trips to Bamburgh, Seahouses, Newtown (Ship Inn), Berwick, Alnwick and Edinburgh. Also Scottish Border villages. I have to say that we all slept very well, even the extremely vocal dawn chorus was "blotted out" by day two...!Excellent comms from the owner and the local caretaker, we can't fault anything. Go for the local produce (excellent local beers and cheese) ! Enjoy !!"

"Had the most fabulous Christmas here! As soon as we walked through the door we were greeted with an extremely generous welcome basket full of goodies, both wood burners were lit, lovely Christmas decorations with huge tree! We all loved staying here and it felt like Christmas in a family home! None of us wanted to leave. Lynne the owner who lives nearby on the farm was welcoming and friendly but at the same time left us to it! We will definitely be recommending this property to friends/family and will go back ourselves. Also the photos don’t do the house justice."
