"If your idea of a break on Exmoor envisages a peaceful base in a comfortable cosy character cottage surrounded by pastoral countryside with direct access to footpaths leading to picturesque views and dark night skies free of light pollution (cloud permitting), this cottage is for you. Extra features like its lakeside location with a nearby water sports and activity centres are just icing on the cake. Sarah and Alan host this property which is one half of a traditional farmhouse (they live in the other bit) dating back a few centuries but stylishly modernised. Situated a mile down a drive from the nearest unclassified road, the farmhouse initially seems isolated but many Exmoor attractions are actually reasonably accessible by car. The standard of accommodation is high with a well equipped modern fitted kitchen, stunning bathroom, and a wood burner in the living room. Satellite TV and a good internet signal are available for those that want them, and the absence of a mobile phone signal means you can choose to holiday here completely undisturbed. A perfect place to enjoy nature's tranquility and the beauty of Exmoor. I'd give it six stars if TripAdvisor allowed! Comments based on a week's stay in October/November 2016"

"This is a lovely cottage which is part of a small working farm, The cottage is very well furnished with a modern kitchen and bathroom. It is comfortable and cosy with an efficient and lovely wood burning stove in the lounge. The owners were friendly and welcoming and more than happy to deal with any reasonable request. The cottage is dog friendly and well equipped with everything a family might need (If I am really picky, soap and sufficient toilet paper might be a nice upgrade). The lake is a few tens of metres from the cottage with stunning views and a made up path around it. In the middle of winter, the ground does get heavy so suitable footwear is recommended. This cottage is remote and well off the beaten track, so a car is essential. It is a good central location for exploring the north Somerset and Devon coast or Exmoor itself. There is a pub and a shop a couple of miles away - walkable by the very fit and able. Do not expect a phone signal, but broadband is adequate close to the the router in the living room. A really enjoyable few days."

"The property was spacious and beautifully presented with the double bedroom and bathroom being particularly well appointed with plenty of storage space. Thought had been put into making everything as simple as possible with the stairgate being a good example with no complicated mechanisms to negotiate to open and shut it. The kitchen had everything that we needed with most of the utensils looking brand new. The garden to the side for our exclusive use had a view of the lake and was appreciated by our two labradors although they could not be left unsupervised as it was not completely dog proof. The location right on the shores of Wimbleball lake was perfect and being close to the Devon border it was within easy driving distance of beaches, gardens and other dog friendly attractions. We had several days were we just walked without moving the car and ate lunch at the excellent cafe at the activities centre n the lake."

"Before we left we had a lovely conversation with the owner Sarah and on arrival she greeted us warmly and explained all the key information that we needed. The cottage is beautifully designed and fitted and felt like a 5 star hotel. The bathroom is also luxurious and even better than the photographs. If I was famous then this is a retreat I would choose. The lake is only yards away and the location is so good that we only used the car twice. The night sky is amazing and we were lucky enough to see shooting stars as well as the lunar eclipse. The dogs are very friendly and there are plenty other animals to watch and listen to. We walked around the lake and over Haddon Hill and we must go back to enjoy kayaking on the lake. Dulverton and Bampton are worth a visit and we enjoyed the Copper Kettle after a long walk from Dulverton to Tarr Steps."

"S90708 was an ideal place to stay for visiting the Exmoor area. It was furnished and decorated to a high standard with good quality kitchen equipment. The large open plan lower floor was a great family space with very good furnishings. On the upper floor were two spacious and comfortable bedrooms with two bathrooms. The enclosed garden is a few steps away along a passage from the back door and, although overlooked by adjacent properties, proved to be a great sun trap with picnic table, benches and sun umbrella. There is no designated parking and although we found no problem finding on-street parking, it might be that this could be a disadvantage (the only one that we could see!). It is obvious that the owners have thought of the needs of their guests and provided all that could be expected, even the welcome basket and doggy towels."
