"Lovely location, however perhaps a bit too remote for us to get to beaches and places of interest, seemed to spend long periods sitting in the car in traffic hold ups! However, we were aware of the location so can't complain about that, but maybe others with young families might need to take note. The cottage itself is pleasant enough however basics like the tiny brass bolt on the upstairs bathroom door not locking was a bit annoying, my hubby did a temporary repair so at least it held. Also felt that the range cooker and halogen hob took some getting used to and the small fridge freezer not really adequate for the amount of people that could be staying there.Beautiful lounge area upstairs, large dining room was a nice place to eat and spend time together. The lack of immediate outdoor space was an issue as the dogs were frightened of the cows in the field next to the nearby allocated paddock area. You have to cross a road (albeit quiet) to reach the paddock. The setting for the cottage however couldn't be better, really beautiful environment. When we arrived on the Saturday having been informed not to do so before 4pm, the cleaners had only just arrived and therefore it felt that the clean up was a bit rushed from the previous visitors. We were supposed to have been allowed in by 3pm I believe.Having looked at previous reviews I can see that basics like the locks on bathroom doors have been reported some time back and yet haven't been properly addressed. And for the price charged the downstairs dining room furniture could be renewed as some of it very shabby and outdated. Also it would be good for the dimmer switch in the dining area to be mended as the low level lighting is very bright directly over the table.Little things, but if put right would change the ambience of the place and give it that final special touch. The cottage is an ideal place for a family get together but as said a bit remote when children want to get to the beach and other places.I would visit again but would hope to see some of the niggles put right!"

"My family and I stayed for 4 nights this week and had a really excellent time.Hilltop Barn offers extremely high quality facilities in very comfortable surroundings. We particularly liked the fact that the kitchen and living room are upstairs which afford fabulous views out across the surrounding countryside. After booking I was initially concerned about how close the road is to the front of the property, but after staying there that concern is completely groundless. It was a lovely, peaceful road which only experienced the occasional car and several horses and riders.Helen (the owner) has really thought of everything you could need or want in a stay of this type from books, DVD's, board games and freesat TV through to plenty of maps and even a spare dog lead.We have rented holiday homes all over the world and Hilltop Barn comes with one of the best equipped kitchens with plenty of pots, pans, glasses, crockery and cutlery. There were also a set of decent and sharp kitchen knives.Microwave, washing machine, dishwasher, coffee machine....the list goes on!While the weather was a bit hit and miss during our stay we found Hilltop Barn to be an excellent base from which to visit a number of locations. Cycling on the beach in Woolacombe was a particular highlight, as was our journey on the Somerset Steam Railway which we caught from Minehead. Kilve Beach is also well worth a look if you are interested in fossil hunting.Overall a very relaxing and enjoyable stay in terrific surroundings and we were sad to leave though we'd have no hesitation returning or recommending this lovely property."

"Lovely people running a busy farm. Remember this cottage is right in the heart of the working farm, cow barn full of cows a few feet away from the cottage which we did not mind! Electric heaters and a wood burner for heating which had to be left in all the time to keep the place warm. Heater not working in bathroom so damp and black mold which was not nice and not pleasant to have a bath or shower. Nice touch that they have logs in the garage we can use and nice large log burner. Only down side was the bed very uncomfortable but nice pillows, cold bathroom and the place needed a good clean. ( log burner needed cleaning out before we could use and the cooker was really dirty) (I had to pull the knobs off and give it a good clean) Apart from that it was worth the money we paid for the hire for the week and as I said the owners were very welcoming and nice. If the above Problems were sorted it would be a really nice place to stay. It’s located down a long drive from the village to the farm (about 800 mts)Great views over the village, the rolling hills, blue anchor beach and wales across the sea around 15 miles away. We would book again and hope the problems are addressed. I would say it’s more a 2-3 star not a 4 star.Dunster, blue anchor, exmoor, minehead etc all close so lots to see. I recommend this place for a break."

"Had a lovely week's stay here from 11/5/18. A delightful cottage (comfy, cosy & clean), fully-equipped & with all mod-cons. Our bed was lovely too & we slept soundly all week. Although the property is part of the farm, it is on the edge of it, round the back & out of the way. Access to it is easy, via a straightforward in & out route through what I have to say is a very clean, tidy & well-ordered farm. During our stay, there was hardly any noise from the farm at all & definitely nothing to disturb us. Most days, in the garden with its terrific view out over the Bristol Channel, all we could hear were birds singing & sheep bleating in the fields around us. Rural bliss! The owners, Andrew & Tracy, are lovely people; very friendly & helpful if required but completely non-intrusive otherwise. All in all, an excellent base from which to explore this lovely part of the world. Would happily return here again."

"Another return visit for us, a really well presented, clean and quality furnished cottage. Well decorated, beautiful bathroom, a compact but delightfully equipped kitchen. Norfolk house is situated a 2 minute walk to the village of Dulverton which has an antiquated charm of years gone by. From the delightfully warm and friendly owner, to the knowledgable, practical and just lovely Penny to meet you and greet you it's a very well managed property, parking is the only downside but it really is at worst a 2 minute stroll from wherever you park but really what can you expect from a village that has managed to evade the harsh modernization of other places, it really doesn't matter, well done to all that own, greet, and clean this pretty cottage, we will be back no doubt xxx"
