"Very good were the view, the swimming pool, cleanliness, hot water and it was spacious (we were 2 not 4). BUT, in contrast, for the money as a place billed as furnished to a high standard and fairly upmarket it did not meet expectations. Apart from the curtains the furniture was rather dismal and the lounge seating was obviously worn out hence covered in horrid beige "candlewick bedspreads" which slide about and are impossible to keep tidy. We regularly stay in rented property and have never been to a place where there is no welcome folder with local information, emergency phone numbers, points of local interest, walks etc or a local OS map. Simply a reminder for the extra money which we fail to understand - why having paid a lot of money one should need to pay extra on arrival for outside lighting remains a sore mystery. And why are towels not provided as they are in most places now. There were no "niceties" - very often there is a cake, a fresh loaf, a small packet of biscuits, a vase of flowers - some gesture to make it feel like a welcome home. There was no toilet cleaner or soap, the toilet seat in the bathroom is loose and the lid will not stay up for male use. There were only 4 teaspoons one of which was bent and the frying pan handle is loose. The storage heaters work but are very inflexible -it takes nearly 2 days for one to become hot or cool down - and the rusty bathroom one and the cloakroom one did not work at all so airing towels is a bind. We were surprised there was no Wifi - this should surely have been mentioned in the brochure. There wasn't at least one spare rubbish bin liner, and certainly nothing like foil or cling film. The bulb of the light over the sink had gone and there were no spare bulbs at all in the place. All in all we thought it vastly over rated and though we enjoyed our week it certainly wasn't because of the accommodation but in spite of it. If it were our property we would be ashamed to let it as described."

"The cottage is dated, damp, worn and lacking in homely touches and modern facilities. Both the bathrooms had peeling wallpaper and mouldy grouting/silicone with locks that didn't locate; the living room furniture all showed signs of staining with worn arms (hidden by arm-covers); the plumbing made a horrific noise with a dangerously high hot water temperature, the taps over the sink in the bathroom were amusing - only 'just' managing to fill the sink as opposed to flooding the surround as they were too small for the sink; the kitchen window had a broken latch and often blew open; whilst seemingly well-appointed many of the items in the cupboards would not be used during a short self-catering break - eg gravy boat and cake tins whereas baking trays for pizzas would have been very useful! Having stayed at a bright modern apartment (in a Victorian house) in York on our way up to Seahouses arriving at Farne Haven was in stark comparison; simple things like shelves for toiletries in the bathroom and towel rails/hanging - especially bearing in mind the swimming pool and extra soggy towels this produced; the fold-out rail provided looked like it was 25yrs old - wonky with cracked and peeling plastic which would be so simple to rectify. The pool was very nice and thoroughly enjoyed by the kids, but again let down by broken showers perhaps brought to prominence by overbearing warning signs (if so dangerous why not just cap off?)The complex is in a great location with superb views and deserves to be brought up to a modern standard. I'm assuming the large 'For Sale' signs on the side of the building show the level of interest and investment that the owners are willing to give the property."

"Cosey Cottage definately lives up to its name, absolutely charming, imaculately clean, beautifully decorated and situated in a most peacefully quiet corner of Amble town. Set beside the owners property, this self catering holiday home has everything you could possibly need throughout your stay.Lisa & Neil will show you around and introduce you to the absolute jewel in the crown....the heated swimming pool and sauna! We used this almost every day, amazing! Parking is secure and right outside the cottage door, reversing is best, and their are alternative spaces always available so not a problem. Amble town & arbour is a very short walk away, with some nice shops, restaurants and a couple of decent pubs. If you chose to venture further afield, then your in for a treat, with some stunning beaches and castles withing only a few miles drive. One of our best holidays so far and some of the best peaceful nights sleep i've had in years. Thank you Lisa & NeilWe will definitely be staying here again.Wayne & LisaCleckheatonWest Yorkshire"

"A lovely holiday. Very relaxing. The bonus was the use of the owner's pool, a rare treat in a self catering holiday home. The addition of private garden was also a bonus. Cottage was very small, but adequate for two people and was decorated to a high standard. The owners attention to detail was very good. We were celebrating our wedding anniversary and on arrival there was a card and champagne and chocolates waiting for us which was a very special thing to do and made the whole experience very personal to us.The only down side was there was not enough free storage. Kitchen cupboards were taken up with decorations and there was nowhere in the bathroom to store any toiletries - needed at least a shelf to put toothbrushes on.On the whole though we enjoyed a good holiday in a very quiet and pleasant place with good facilities and restaurants within walking distance. Lovely people and a lovely place. We would definately recommend it and would love to go again."

"The cottage's decor is very dated and needs an upgrade. We didn't like the hostile notices stuck up all over the place telling us not to do this and not to do that! Of all the cottages we've stayed in over the years, this is the first one where there wasn't a welcome pack, not even a small bottle of milk or a few tea bags was available on arrival. When we've stayed in Cornwall/Devon scones, jam, cream and a bottle of wine/cider was provided along with tea/coffee, milk so the customer relations for this cottage needs some work!We were also unsure what the extra money we had to leave on the table was for as we didn't use the pool and you would expect the lighting in the car park to be included. We were also absolutely astonished that there was no WiFi as it hadn't occurred to us that there wouldn't be!The only good thing was the view from the lounge over the harbour and the cottage's close location to the village."
