What our customers say about their holidays

We fell in love with the cottage and the area during our stay.

The cottage has everything you need that makes you feel comfortable and at home very quickly. We loved the layout and it’s was so clean and smelled amazing. Especially as it’s a carafe that allows pets there wasn’t a smell of them anywhere which was really nice. The village itsself was perfect, quaint little place. It was really quiet and the local shop, butchers and pud where brill. We are at the pub every night, Propper pub that serves Propper pub food that wasn’t too fancy or expensive. The local river and woodland walk was stunning, aswell as days out to holy island and bamburgh. We loved Norham and I really didn’t want to leave. We will certainly be booking this little cottage again. Only issues I would say is the top step in the garden that leads you up to the patio is loose, and the bathrooms sink plug fixing doesn’t raise, so drains very slowly. Cannot recommend Skye’s enough, the agent found this little cottage for us and from booking to arriving it was easy and perfect.

We had a pleasant week in the Turkey House, which is peacefully set in lovely countryside.

The owners live next door, so at hand if you need anything but the cottage is very private, with views over the fields. We mostly eat in on holiday, and the kitchen is very well equipped indeed. We had to have the heating on a couple of times (Scotland in August, not unexpected!) and the place heated up very quickly. Excellent hot water too. There are seats and a table outside should you be fortunate with the weather. One pouring wet day we went to Berwick upon Tweed, which is only about six miles away and has supermarkets, cafes etc, and is also very much worth a visit anyway, as it is a very interesting place. We had our bikes with us and were able to cycle straight out the door into the quiet lanes - two pubs in villages a mile or two away are easy to visit. There are also details of local walks in a folder in the cottage. It was wonderful to get a holiday after everything that has been going on, and we had a lovely week here.

The house was in a quiet location, near to the beach and was very well equipped. The extras, including soap, washing up liquid etc were useful, especially when only staying for five days. The ‘human’ welcome pack was a very nice touch, and our labradoodle loved her ‘doggy’ welcome pack especially the treats & tennis ball. There were plenty of places nearby to visit, including Seahouses, Holy Island, Bamburgh, with beautiful beaches and scenery to see. Bamburgh beach & dunes are well worth a visit, especially for the dog to play in the dunes. We found a good choice of cafes and restaurants, in the places we visited; The Copper Kettle in Bamburgh & Limoncello restaurant in Berwick, Pilgrims Coffee House & Roastery on Holy Island, were all very nice & dog friendly, we also enjoyed a nice Chinese from the Royal Garden in Berwick. We will definitely return to this house and explore the area further.

Delightful stay at this large property, the amount of space is amazing and as a family group we liked the amount of seating and bedroom layout.

One of the bedrooms (has an ensuite) is within the original house and has its own staircase to it making it ideal for a multi generational holiday. Two other bedrooms also have ensuites and the bathroom is really near to the one without an ensuite. The property has everything needed with plenty of dishes, pans etc. Very rural location so its quiet with lots of outside space. Takes about 10 minutes to get to the A1 for trips out. We used the postcode to locate the property and this got us very near to the entrance gate, it's just a short drive further down the narrow road to the actual house so be sure to proceed further. The owner provided what three words but the phone signal is bad so this wasn't reliable when first locating the house. In summary a large house with all you'd need.

Whilst the cottage outwardly looked wonderful and the hosts left us provisions we were not expecting there were some things we were not comfortable with .

The first was that there was no lock on the porch in which coats, shoes and other out door equipment was left .The main door into the house was difficult to open and there was some evidence of forced entry/entries being made. We did ask the hosts about the lock on the porch which they said had never had a key but it was a solid double glazed door with a multi point lock similar to our home front door and this certainly has a workable lock. The new electric fire could not be controlled remotely as the batteries had failed and although we told the hosts on our first day there, they did not provide any new batteries but did say we could use the manual override. There were other small things which needed attention and we left a list of these so they could be rectified.
