"Would have liked warning about entrance to property; very narrow and bumpy track. Disappointed with cleanliness of property; dirty floors (dropped water in kitchen on arrival and when we cleaned it up the cloth was filthy), toilet brush holders were with filled with dirty water and downstairs plug was very grotty. On a positive note, we had a lovely week there with 4 adults and 2 dogs: easy walk into Wirksworth - with a nice pub (Hope & Anchor), superb chip shop, lovely butchers, coffee shops and supermarket/petrol station - so amenities handy. We were in just right spot to explore canal boat trip (Birdswood), Carsington Water (reservoir), Crich Tram Village, Ecclestone Steam train (based in Wirksworth - walking distance from cottage) - all of these were lovely and dog-friendly. Also popped to Bakewell - quaint place. The cottage was very comfortable and well equipped. I would recommend it to people for a peaceful, beautiful place to stay."

"Nice and well equipped cottage, probably a bit small if fully occupied, but fine for two and a dog. The back garden is on multiple levels and our dog loved it, plus the thoughtful biscuits left by the owner. Access is predominantly via the back entrance, as the side entrance is shared with the farm across the yard, and whilst the front entrance can be used it a bit of an obstacle course as there are farm railings and sheepdogs in the way!Not really a cottage for people who are not mobile, given the multiple level back entrance and the multiple levels in the cottage itself. The cottage is located near to many walks more or less straight out of the door and there are many local pubs all of a good standard, particularly the Packhorse. The lane leading to the cottage is a bit potholely and the turn leading into the track leading to the cottage is a bit tricky. All in all we enjoyed our stay there."

"A party of 3.. Myself, husband and close friend, we all enjoyed a lovely four day break.S86203 is very nice and spacious, has everything you could possibly need. Very comfortable!Beautiful view of the woods at the rear of the house. Where you can sometimes see the stags grazing. The local Square & Compass Pub was very friendly and the food was excellent and at reasonable prices.Plenty to see and do in the surrounding areas.. Bakewell with good shops, cafes & restaurants and beautiful walks along the river. Matlock also has a good selection of shops and cafes, tea shops and restaurants. The Garden centre's in Matlock and Ashbourne are also worth a visit, both with very nice coffee shops. We're all looking forward to going back again next year!"

"More of a house than a cottage! Very well kept and very clean. Beds comfy. Kitchen equipment a little crammed with many multiples. Great fridge and freezer space. We had a food fridge and an alcohol fridge! Dining room a great space to play board games. Creaky floorboards upstairs meant it was impossible to tiptoe around at night without disturbing anyone. Great location being so close to Ashbourne. We found the sofas in the lounge very comfortable although a little antisocial as they were placed in a line but I don't know how they could have been arranged differently. Overall a great cottage though."

"Dissapointing! Lovely location, large spacious house and garden but very tired and in need of a thorough clean and refresh. The whole house felt worn out from the bin with the lid that didn't close and leaky kettle to the dirty stained carpets and well worn out lumpy beds and crispy towels... even the floor has given up, you can't move around upstairs without it sounding like a heard of elephants is traipsing around. The kitchen is well equipped with crockery and cooking equipment, at one time someone really put some effort into this place but it really feels neglected now."
