Snaptrip says

The Old Dairy House is a centrally located property in Ashbourne, offering modern fixtures and a comfortable bed. Despite its potential and high-standard fittings, guests have reported maintenance and cleanliness issues that need addressing.

Guests that stayed at this property said

Guests consistently reported the property as not clean, with specific mentions of filth, stains, and unpleasant odours. The lack of cleaning supplies and equipment was also noted.

The property is praised for its central location within Ashbourne, with easy access to local amenities and parking found within a short walk.

While the bed was described as comfortable, sleep was frequently disturbed by the boiler noise and light pollution. The open-plan bathroom and lack of privacy in bedroom arrangements were also concerns.

Facilities such as the oven, hob, and TV lacked instructions, and there were issues with the dishwasher, toilet flush, and boiler. The property was not maintained to expected standards.

There is no mention of gifts or extra touches that would indicate thoughtfulness from the owner towards the guests, hence the score cannot be determined.

On arrival, discover the covered outdoor seating area to the front of the property; here you can sip your morning coffee and plan the day ahead. Step inside to the open-plan living space, hosting a kitchen area with shiny marble worktops, white-glossed units, and an island to enjoy home-cooked meals. Unwind on the corner sofa as the Smart TV with surround sound keeps you entertained or venture upstairs to the roof top terrace to savour a glass of wine. Prepare for the day ahead in the bathroom, featuring a Jacuzzi bath for a leisurely soak, a wet room-style shower, basin, heated towel rail and WC. When sleep calls, there is a super-king-size bed with bedside table to keep your favourite book and a single bedroom, ideal for a younger one. The bustling town of Ashbourne is a great base for adventures, with its cobbled alleys, quirky shops, and traditional inns to enjoy heart-warming meals. Within easy reach is the Peak District National Park, home to deep valleys in Dovedale and the sprawling moorlands of Kinder Scout for a challenging hike. Visit the town of Matlock, where visitors can enjoy a variety of attractions, including the Heights of Abraham, Gulliver's Kingdom, and Matlock Farm Park, as well as explore its beautiful countryside surroundings. All this and more awaits at The Old Dairy House.

Ashbourne, at the southern end of the Peak District, is an English market town featuring a market place, an odd street pattern, small cobbled alleys, coaching inns, and almshouses. The town was a fashionable social centre in the 18th century, and many Georgian structures remain. Today, the town offers many restaurants, inns, and antique shops, but don't anticipate a deal. Dove and Manifold Valleys are nearby, while Alton Towers is a short drive away.

No communication. No care despite explaining our situation with 2 children. We cancelled the booking an hour after we booked. I got confirmation from the landlord he would authirise a refund. This was almost 2 weeks ago. I have called 14 times and used the WhatsApp service and I still don't have my refund. I'm overdrawn and had to cancel a family day out. So I will never be booking with you again and I most certainly won't recommend. I'll make my 15th call today

We parked in the co ops parking lot which you use pay by phone for and was fine for the weekend. We couldn’t find the one suggested by the fire station. Initial impression was modern and clean and spacious. The bed comfortable and large shower and bath. As per another listing noted the facade on the toilet flush is broken off and has not been replaced leaving you with a toilet that will flush but not the standard you’d expect when renting somewhere. Given the £150 fee for cleaning there is no actual cleaning equipment to be found in the way of hoover or dustpan or brush. The boiler next to the bed disturbed our sleep as it would kick in through the course of the night as did the red light given off through the net curtain hiding it. The dishwasher was unusable and had a thick residue sludge in the bottom when we opened it. The shower looked fantastic but water pressure was low and trickled. The lounge looks out onto a pubs service area so not the best view but it was cosy enough to have the blinds down and we weren’t disturbed unduly by noise from here. If these small areas could be sorted which look simple to fix then the apartment is a great find.

As I wasn’t in the property much and the rest of the town was booked up for Shrovetide, it was adequate for what I wanted. Some recommendations which are, unfortunately, common denominators with previous reviews. This place could be lovely, but it needs cleaning. It’s as simple as that. A big clean. Whoever is doing this is doing a cursory, minimal job (if any at all). I couldn’t find any crockery, glassware or cutlery. This was because it was still dirty in a fully loaded dishwasher from the previous occupants. I realise why, this was because there was no dishwasher powder/tablets. The integrated fridge has become detached from the wooden door, once opened though, it’s disgusting, but would be rectified with a 10-min clean. The carpet needed a good vacuum all over. There is no vacuum cleaner on the property. In the bedroom, the white double duvet had a large bloodstain on it as well as other nondescript, worrying marks. However, there was clean, fresh-smelling linen in the wardrobe so I changed the sheets. Again, this is basic. I deliberately dampened the white duvet and sheets and left them in the bath so that the next occupant (hopefully) does not suffer the same. These simply need throwing away. The toilet had not been cleaned. There was bleach, but no toilet brush but I used lots and it worked. Again, this is basic and nobody should have to do that. As previously mentioned in other reviews, the water pressure is not strong enough for the flush, although I found that for the shower, it was fine. The shower was lovely. The bath looks lovely, again, black ring around it and some scum, which means it had not been cleaned. I noted the complaints about the boiler making noise in the night. It’s unusual to have a boiler not boxed off to reduce noise, as it is very close in the bedroom, it’s covered by a sheet. In any case, it would benefit from some instructions as I learned how to set the timer so it would stay silent until the morning (it’s an old fashioned timer on a clock with teeth that you push down for on and off). In actual fact, the potential for this place is great, it’s been decorated nicely (especially downstairs) it’s big and open plan in the front room with a good tv/sound setup and the kitchen area has been installed with an island for cooking which also has power points for your laptops, tablets etc. It really needs some low-level maintenance doing but also, really simply, lots of the issues mentioned will be rectified by someone actually doing the job of cleaning it. Please clean this place.
