What our customers say about their holidays

    • Albert - Verified booking

I sampled the smaller cottage Gable View, i was on my own, so space was more than adequate, if 2 are staying and your hound is big, you might be tripping over each other.

Bedroom was nice and cosy (keep window closed at night, as farm cockerel will wake you) didnt hear it after 3rd night... Lake district air does wonders for sleep. Lounge/kitchenette/diner more than passable even for a 2 week stay, my own personal points are TV not pick up the bulk of freeview channels, so choice of viewing a tad limited, wifi is there, but i took my own, also took a google chromecast with me.... Which proved a boon as TV is not internet type. Only other minor gripe is the sofa, really could do with a new firmer support model, although cushions available, i used pillows as extra back support and comfort. At time of visit stuff around me not fully open, but hey theres still good walks to be had, views from front are stunning.... Just still a bit too chilly to spend time sitting outside. Hosts are friendly and welcoming and regularly asked if needed anything else, if you get talking to Michael.... Very interesting character, we even had a connection to Keswick, Borrowdale where i worked in a hotel back in the day. You have a petrol station with a well stocked fairly large Spar shop 2 mins drive 10mins walk Directions to farm are given, but did i read... No so went slightly wrong way not far from farm, if you use the app what 3 words and use "Drawn. Change. Shepherds. That will take you to front door. I recommend a train journey along the west coast from Ravenglass, the line hugs the coast like a lizard.... And marvel at the properties that are built practically on the beaches along that coast, i travelled north, but you can travel south as well and go across another estuary at Arnside (involves a change of train) depending on your time of visit to Arnside... You might catch a tidal bore coming in. On the whole a nice relaxing holiday, which is what its about really.... Will be back, just dont know when.

Nice quiet location but close enough to the National park as well as the west coast towns such as Whitehaven & Workington for those that need their shopping fix.

Cottage was nice & comfortable but could just do with a bit of maintenance & upgrading. One of the cupoard doors in the kitchen was missing & the small counter top cooker not really suitable even for one. It may be relatively modern but the last time I used one like that it was a "Baby Belling" over thirty years ago & if anything that was more efficient (or maybe I've got used to better over that time). There didn't seem to be any way of controling the hot plates. The batroom was vey small & had no heating but the water in the shower was nice & hot. Overall it was adequate especially as I was on my own, & I would definately consider staying there again. It was nice to see the variety of free range chickens & cockerels & the goats. Just bear in mind that the goats will just walk into the cottage if you leave the door open & cockerels don't just crow in the mornings. They also crow throughout the night. But then it is the countryside & only to be expected.

The property was lovely and presented nicely.

You need to get Lakelovers to listen to your customers. Twice we have stayed and in both occasions the second bedroom was left as a double bed despite being requested to be two singles. I even called a few days in advance to ask on this second visit that this be remembered and resolved. Yet on arrival, still it was a double. I called Lakelovers and a lovely house keeping lady came and sorted it, but bless her she shouldn’t have to do that. Plus I was lucky, I got there on a Friday at 4:20pm, if I had been after 5pm what chance would I have had? Love the property, We will be back, just not impressed with Lakelovers since they sold out to Sykes.

I actually thought the photos on the listing didn't do the property justice!

We had a great time staying at Larna Place, and will be back to stay again for sure. It felt extremely clean, and the recent renovations have been done to an excellent standard. I had a bedding request made to the Lake Lovers team when we arrived and this was dealt with within a hour or two which was very much appreciated and great service. As we had a young baby we found ourselves staying in more for meals and cooking than we would have done pre-baby, and were pleased to report the facilities on offer made this an enjoyable experience. Again, the property really was lovely and in a superb location, great amenities, and lots of space.

We had a lovely stay at this cottage and the dogs loved the paddock for a good run around.

Everything was superb about the location and the the cottage itself very comfortable and warm and cosy. We had some very cold nights but once you lit the gas fire burner in the sitting room you were soon snug. The only downsides was lack of plugs downstairs to charge phones etc you had none as all of them had something in them lights or torches on charge etc and the terrible air leaks in the water system you had to put on the shower tap nothing would come out so you would then run the basin and it soon flowed. It was a knack and we soon got used to it. But otherwise a fantastic place and would return again.
