What our customers say about their holidays

    • Baker - Verified booking

The living and dining areas of the farmhouse are spacious and the bedrooms are a reasonable size, although the mirror doors in one ensuite don't glide and the other ensuite lacks storage space. The showers have little power upstairs and the hot taps trickle. The downstairs shower (and those in the barn) are fine. The heating is good though and easy to use. The beds are comfy and the bed linen is good quality. There were insufficient drinking glasses but otherwise the kitchen is well-equipped, although the frying pans have seen better days and the oven trays need a jolly good scrub. Some of the furnishings do need replacing (one sofa has a hole beneath the cushions) and there is mould on the back of the toilet curtains. I have to wonder why a £500 security deposit was necessary for this cottage as the standard does not warrant it. We did enjoy our stay in the farm, the issues raised are minor and fixable. The views are amazing from the house.

Lovely cottage which provided plenty of space for 4 adults and a young child.

The layout of the cottage offered plenty of privacy to couples and numerous bathrooms. The setting of the house is ideal, being walking distance to grasmere, several pubs/restaurants and the public bus all while being surrounded by nature. The peaceful setting made for a good nights sleep. There is also the added bonus of the health club access which we enjoyed. Would definitely return to Fairfield Cottage. To improve the kitchen facilities further additional larger glasses, wine glasses, baking trays and a few more sharp knives could be supplied. Otherwise it’s a well equipped kitchen. A few more plug adapters could help, especially in bedrooms and lounge. Might also benefit from a regular deep clean in those hard to reach areas eg behind beds and cabinets.

      Fairfield Cottage was terrific.

Great location, just a short walk (about 10 mins) to the centre of Grasmere. Being on the sunny side of the valley, it had sun throughout the day and great views. We did a lot of walking from the property, almost completely off-road. The cottage was well equipped and the beds were comfy. The showers were good, with decent pressure and plenty of hot water. The kitchen was well equipped. Could have done with a few more cooking knives and some tongs, but that is me just being picky (constructive criticism). The cottage was as described and met all our expectations. There is plenty of outdoor space to enjoy a glass or two before going out for dinner in the village. We stay in the Lakes at least once a year and this cottage is in our top two at the moment.

Overall a lovely large property with plenty of room. We had a family reunion which we enjoyed especially as the weather was good and the lake used by the youngsters. However, we were told by the cleaners that the previous tenants had left it in a bad state, and indeed we had to call maintenance to get the sofa seats cleaned as they smelled of urine. They came very quickly and were excellent, thank you - and also repaired the kitchen tap which was leaking badly. For pets the terrace really needs a gate at the top of the steps to the garden - as part of this is shared with other properties. Although there is a cattle grid, it would be possible for dogs to jump over it and access the road which can be busy with cars and walkers

This property exceeded our expectations! It was extremely spacious and well equipped for a large group. The entrance was well designed for the group to remove wet clothing, boots etc. Radiators were plentiful to dry off gear and the cloakroom had plenty of hooks to hang wet coats! The full size fridge and freezer meant we could store food for the week particularly as we were not close to any large supermarket . The lounge provided a relaxing room with a cosy log fire, especially as there was an adjoining lounge with tv which the children could play their games in . View of the lake is spectacular and close enough for the early dip. Walks and cycling all easily accessible . All in all, had a fabulous week.
