    Haverigg Holiday Cottages

Those seeking tranquillity in stunning surroundings won’t find better than the seaside fishing village of Haverigg, tucked away on the north west coast of England just south from the town of Millom, on the Duddon Estuary.

A haven for breeding terns and wading birds, holiday cottages in Haverigg are especially popular with birdwatchers and wildlife enthusiasts, and the nearby Hodbarrow RSPB reserve certainly won’t disappoint. The quiet Blue Flag beach is vast and safe for children and families, with adventure play equipment dotted along the seafront. The village itself is home to several shops and pubs for visitors and locals alike: chat with residents as you sit and wile away the evening hours with a drink. Art enthusiasts will also enjoy Haverigg – an impressive 7 tonne sculpture named ‘Escape To Light’ can be found at the Haverigg Inshore Rescue Station, having been relocated from Rydal Hall Gardens.

With thousands of holiday cottages across the UK on Snaptrip to choose from, our best price guarantee means that you won’t find a better deal on your holiday anywhere else. Our customer service team are just a quick email away, should you have any questions.

What our customers say about their holidays

I feel compelled to share my recent experience at Shipwreck Cottage in Haverigg, not as a critique, but as a sincere warning to potential guests.

Our stay at this property was nothing short of a nightmare, and I genuinely believe that others should be spared from what we endured. From the moment we arrived, it was clear that this property has some serious issues that go beyond a mere bad day. The most egregious problem was the state of the jacuzzi. It was contaminated with black mould and bacteria, rendering it unsightly and a serious health hazard. Despite bringing this matter to the property owner’s and Sykes Holiday Cottages’ attention, they failed to address the underlying issue. Superficial "cleaning" only masked the problem, leaving us to wonder about the true safety and cleanliness of this property's amenities. But the issues didn't stop there. The lack of safety notices is a cause for great concern. My wife had a terrifying encounter when the dining room airer fell and hit her on the head. We were given no warning about any potential risks associated with the use of this equipment, leaving us to question the property owner’s commitment to guest safety. Perhaps the most disappointing aspect of our stay was the owners and Sykes unyielding stance on their no-refund policy. Even in the face of such severe issues, they refused to consider any compensation for the inconvenience, health concerns, and overall disappointment that marred our holiday. In summary, my advice is clear: stay far away from Shipwreck Cottage in Haverigg. Our experience was nothing short of a disaster, and it's evident that this property owner and Sykes prioritise greed and profiteering over the well-being and satisfaction of their guests. There are countless other accommodations in the area that offer both quality and safety, and I implore you to explore those options instead. Your holiday should be a time of relaxation and enjoyment; you should never have to worry about your health and safety being compromised. Learn from our unfortunate experience and choose a different place to stay.

The cottage was ok very simple but adequate based in a nice part of the village centre near the shop , pub, beach etc some great walks near by.

We used it as a base to explore the area and had a great holiday visiting Barrow, Coniston, Ravenglass, Muncaster castle, St Bees and more the train station is 10 minutes away with free parking and goes to loads of places Although the cottage appears modern with the trendy grey decor etc It had the Most uncomfortable furniture I have ever sat on and the mattresses are really poor quality The Wi-Fi is none existent Smart tv doesn’t work on any channels only freeview The Lock on kitchen door doesn’t lock securely There’s nowhere in the bedroom to put anything no table or drawers No waste bin bags supplied Loo brush needs binning Parking space needs clarification in instructions as it not near the house it’s actually outside no34 no info in welcoming pack The local pub and fish shop only take cash Most of the things listed above are in the visitors book but not addressed It’s the little things that make the difference.

A really great holiday home, inconspicuously nestled away in a row of terraced houses.

We were really impressed with the house, the ground floor is all open plan and really nicely decorated. The bedrooms are also really nice, we found the beds really comfy, which is a rarity in holiday homes! The landing is tight upstairs, and the adjoining door between the 2 bedrooms was a bit awkward to manoeuvre around, but it was a minor quirk in what was overall a great place to stay. The TV downstairs didn't have any signal, I don't know if it had come disconnected from the aerial, or if this is just an issue with signal for that property. But we mainly used the property as a base and travelled around Cumbria. Unfortunately the village of Haverigg doesn't have a lot going for it. The beach isn't very exciting for kids, not much sand for digging and sandcastles. So I wouldn't expect to stay here with the intention of hanging out in Haverigg for a week, but the property itself was fantastic!

There is an issue with the Broadband in the property, made worse with the poor Cellular network coverage in the area.

The router would keep dropping out, Vodafone contacted me after i managed to post an issue, when out and about with cellular connection, but would not fix it because i am not the account holder and they needed to go through security. There is a problem with WiFi in the property anyway with the stone construction, I suggest the owners would be better with powerline adapters between rooms as the wireless extenders are not able to function with the metallic stone building. It was a shame as this was our only downside of the property, we just need internet access so much these days - from planning days out, checking the weather forecast to booking restaurants. Although we were not expecting to use TV's very much, one was unusable because it had an operating system fault and the other could not be used for what we needed because of the Broadband issue.

I'm not happy at all because this accommodation was very worst, since I used last 20 years.

First of all the toilets were extremely tiny and had very limited space to sit and move around. Everytime standing up head hited with the wall cabinet because of space. Also the flushes did not work most of the time. And after a while would eventually work. Second the bedrooms and beds were also extremely small we would not even fit on the beds they were children beds not even single beds. We also tried calling several times while we were staying in this accommodation and not even once picked up the phone or called us back. Furthermore we also went to the front office there but they told us to contact sykescottages as we booked from them. This is the worst cottages and company and do not recommend to book through them. Booking.com is far better.
