A wonderful little cottage in an excellent location for Helvellyn and other walks . This cottage was perfect for the week we had . Glenridding had excellent shops and a cafe and pubs . Would highly recommend this place . Only gripe was the shower wasn’t very good , but the bath was big enough for a good hot soak after our hikes

Lovely cottage, great location but a bit of a climb back to it if you go into Glenridding. Uneven steps from bedroom to the bathroom can be a bit tricky and if you need the loo at night, switch on a light or torch 1st or just crawl as there is a very low beam in the way if you sleep on left side of the bed. The heating is a bit of a faff. Also I don't think 4 small bits of kinderling and 1 log constitutes enough wood for a fire even for the 1st night.

Low beams take some getting used to, especially the one above the bed. Bed is comfortable and now has mattress protector and clean fresh pillows. Shower is best used using the shower head as a hand spray. A coffee table in the lounge would be helpful. No visitors book so guests can't leave their tips and experiences for their successors. Welcome pack very disappointing - slightly less than we found on the tea & coffee tray in the hotel room we stayed in the night before our arrival at the cottage. Electric heaters work well once you get the hang of controlling them. Brownie points awarded for full set of local OS maps provided. Refuse/recycling bins left on roadside get filled by passers-by dumping their rubbish in them - currently a problem with local authority not emptying them. Black mark for Cottages.com for not keeping us updated with an issue with a smoke alarm reported to their helpdesk.
