"The Snug is a welcoming little place that is very clean and to the point. In many ways it was ideal for the purpose in which I was visiting. There were, however, a couple small issues that I feel to mention and one larger one. 1) The front door has no curtain over a very clear glass window; albeit that window is not very big, the path just outside the door is very busy with walkers, school kids and the likes. I became very aware that anyone could look straight in. This also meant on an evening while sitting on the sofa, the property across the street could see straight in from their upstairs window to where I was sitting - there is no way of closing off other's view through the front door and that privacy became important to me due to the surroundings.2) I personally found a similar issue with the upstairs bathroom. While the windows are patterned, that pattern includes very clear areas which allowed me to see straight out into the pub's beer garden. The curtains on the window were netted which again, gave me a sense of compromised privacy. I became aware when I had wanted to shower at night that I would have preferred solid curtains across the window for that COMPLETE reassurance of privacy. In hindsight and upon reflection, I have come to realise that the whole issue of "privacy" felt quite compromised there at The Snug. For this reason, I would probably be hesitant to stay there again. 3) Part of my stay in Cartmel was to do some personal business, so finding that The Snug had secure wifi was an added bonus ... or so I thought. I was, however, greatly disappointed to discover that on the last day of my stay, it appears that someone "hacked" into my email account which meant that several personal emails of a sensitive nature had not gone through to the person for which they were intended. It is only this morning - the day after I left The Snug - that the full realisation of what happened came and I have had to deal with the issue from this end. For this reason, I would think twice about revisiting The Snug. If I was simply walking the area and relaxing, I would perhaps re-consider ... but sadly, this final event has left a little bit of a cloud over what had been quite a lovely stay.I could look past the first two issues to a degree, but after the 3rd issue I am afraid it is a case of "3 strikes and you're out!" It is such a shame because the place itself is just so lovely and holds such character. R.D.County Durham"

"Whilst the accommodation is located only 5 mins from the main A590 it is incredibly peaceful and quiet. Its location is brilliant for the South Lakes being only 10 mins from the likes of Grange over Sands and Cartmel and about 20 mins from Bowness and Windermere. So many places to see, walks that can be taken right from the front door and for the more adventurous Scafell Pike was about 1hr 15 mins. Loads of leaflets of things to do at the house as well which was really helpful.Accommodation was spacious, very clean and comfortable. The only tiny thing that could be improved upon would be that there was only 1 washing machine tablet, 2 dishwasher tablets, 1 piece of tin foil etc. When you are away for a week the last thing you want is to have to take things like this with you so a few more would have been helpful.Overall though a great property, great location and would recommend strongly."

"We were mostly happy with this cottage apart from the fact that we were only supplied with one dishwasher tablet and when we asked for more (on the second day) as we intended to eat in every night we were only given one extra and the owner said that the cleaner hadn't informed them that they needed more and they'd done the shopping for that week. Again later in the week we asked for another but were told no. We feel that if a property advertises a dishwasher they should provide dishwasher tablets. Wi-fi would be an advantage too. Fitted sheet would not stay on bed as mattress protector made of a slippery material. Welcome pack consisted of tea bags, coffee, sugar and a pint of milk plus newspaper - we were expecting a little bit more."

"We had a fantastic stay at Dunmail House, the hosts are very approachable and will do anything to ensure you have a pleasant stay. Upon entering the property we were amazed at the same as sometimes you can see photographs online which is not a true representation of a property, we were pleased to see that the photographs were accurate and if anything doesn’t demonstrate how amazing this place is! The whole family loved it, especially the boys playing in the garden. A massive thank you to Sarah and her partner who returned my littlest nephews toy dog which he carried everywhere and we had left it by accident at the property. Will definitely return and would definitely recommend this place! Thank you for such a pleasant stay. Jenn and family"

"Two weeks of a super holiday!!!We had two very lovely, splendid relaxing weeks in this very comfortabele cottage on a beautiful locaton. We just loved the complete silence and peacefulness at this hide far away from noise, traffic and hectic. From the cottage you can make walks into the woods, through the fields, on the hill and enjoy nature, grazing sheep and cows, birds in the skye and the overwelming far views towards the hills and into the dales whilst you are surrounded by the silence and peacefullness of the area. Also the national footpath the Dales Way is not to far away. The farmshop and the villages Kendal and Grange over Sands are all quitte near by for shopping."
