" 2: The accommodation was perfect for us. 3: We loved the log burner, it made the house feel very cosy so we had it lit every evening. 4: Thank you for providing binoculars, they were very useful. 5: We loved the games that were provided. 6: There are great pubs close by - the Hare and Hounds in the village and the Wheatsheaf in Brigsteer are a couple of examples. 7: Thank you for providing compost bins. On the down side. Constructive criticism: 1: Please provide recent maps not just geographical ones. 2: Please tidy up the the corner saucepan cupboard. It was such a mess and doesn’t take much time to tidy it up and give a much better impression. I left it as I would like to find it. 3: Clean under the coffee table. When we moved it to give us more room to play Jenga we found quite a selection of items. 4: Providing the number of firelights for each evening would be a good gesture as many guests probably don’t have a log burner at home to use them on. As we are South Africa we didn’t need them as we are experienced in lighting barbecues with kindling and newspaper but I would think most of your guests would use firefighters. 5: Please provide recycling bags like your neighbours 2 doors away. Recycling is very important to us so we ended up taking our recycling items home as I couldn’t bare to put them in your general waste bin. I am aware of the story you gave us about recycling at the cottage but it’s cost saving to have separate recycling bags. 6: I’m sure there’s not much you can do about it but the barking dogs are annoying. Maybe you’ve been renting out Limestone Cottage for a long time but I think these few points would make It even more attractive and delightful. "

"Limestone Cottage is in the pretty village of Levens, just a few miles from Kendal. The cottage was very clean and comfortable, well decorated and beautifully furnished throughout and we loved both the interior and exterior. It has everything you need, and will sleep up to 3 people. It is only towels that are not provided. There is private parking and a garden. It was very easy to reach from the M6, and you didn't have to go far to see some beautiful sights. We would recommend Bowness, Coniston, Grasmere, Ambleside and also the Ingleton Waterfall Trail. We managed to get to Hill Top, too, which was one of Beatrix Potter's homes. We stuck to the South Lakes, as there was so much to see, but you could go further afield as well. You can see Levens on foot and we had a lovely long walk around the local countryside on one of the days. We were very fortunate with the weather for our week's holiday. We would definitely recommend the Hare and Hounds in Levens for a meal. Bowness is also a good place to eat out. There are loads of restaurants to choose from there. We were spoilt for choice. We very much hope to return, as this was our first visit to the Lake District and we loved it."

" A little bit out of the way, only pub/hotel a bit of a walk downhill, not a problem. Down side. This is the first time we have booked with Sykes holidays.I booked one week Friday to Friday. Unfortunately a family problem prevented us from being able to go on the Friday and we advised Sykes that we would arrive on the Saturday (accepting that we would lose one day). Whilst there we found out that the following weeks were un-booked and asked if we could leave one day later, this was refused and they wanted another days payment, we declined and the property lay empty. I acknowledge this was not their problem but I was disappointed. We were planning to book again later in the year but decided not to go with Sykes again. "

"The cottage is a ground floor apartment in a former chapel. There are plenty of windows and lots of light, and the space has been configured to make the most of the beautiful views. The kitchen is very well equipped, and the walk in shower with good water pressure and a non-slip tray is a nice luxury. The cottage was impeccably clean and tidy when we arrived. Local village shop was handy and the location in the south lakes was convenient for the places we wanted to visit. The only downsides were 1) the directions to the cottage which could be improved for clarity - I think one of the turns is wrong, and 2) the tiny second bedroom - which would be much better as a single with space for a chest of drawers. I think 4 people in this cottage would be a push, but for 3 it was fine."

"The Bungalow was well decorated and well appointed, exceeding our expectations. It is built along the same lines as the Tardis, in that although it looks fairly compact from the outside, inside it is surprisingly spacious. It was nice to be greeted by complimentary bottles of wine and milk in the refrigerator, together with a friendly note from the owner. Other welcoming touches included fresh flowers, and an extensive basket full of information leaflets, including a full set of Explorer 2 1/2 inch OS maps of the Lake District. Having already done our homework, we were fully aware that Levens is just outside the Lake District National Park, but there is good access to the park, as well as to Morecombe Bay, and to the North Yorkshire Dales."
