    Staithes Holiday Cottages

In the past, Staithes was one of the largest fishing ports in the whole of the North East and Yorkshire but now it's a favourite holiday destination for friends, families and couples. What's more, it's the perfect place to explore the North York Moors, the coast and cliff top views. Even better is that local attractions Saltburn By The Sea and Runswick Bay are never too far away either.

In terms of Staithes holiday cottages, you'll be spoilt for choice. Think Grade II listed holiday homes in the village of Staithes, North Yorkshire. Or, contemporary apartments with open plan living and sea views from the bedroom. Alternatively, choose from the cottages in Staithes - located in the heart of the hustle and bustle. And that's before we mention the pet-friendly pads with ground floor access from the living room onto a garden leading to the North Yorkshire coast.

Whatever you're looking for, we're the team to turn to for long and short breaks. What our customers say about their holidays

    • Allen - Verified booking

Lovely cottage - the owner said they’d had many holidays there and that was what made a difference I think.

It felt cosy like a real “home” as soon as you walked in. The decor was not the cheap “make do and mend” that you often find - it was really nicely and tastefully done. The cottage was very well equipped and the owners had anticipated most of the needs of visitors. The welcome pack was very welcome. Thank you. The cottage was lovely and clean, very warm and comfortable. It has traditional features (including a few spooky creaks and groans. We swear we heard a young child say “Daddy” just outside the bedroom door one night….. we hid under the duvet) A couple of “even better if’s”: (1) the dishwasher didn’t work properly and after three washes we had to wash the pots by hand as they were not clean at all (2) maybe leave some washing up liquid and a couple of dishwasher tabs for the next visitors (we left dish cloths). (3) The property is very difficult to find. I couldn’t find it on Google Earth so texted for clarification a few days before we went. I did not get a reply. We couldn’t find it where the post code led us, so we scoured the streets - the locals in the pub hadn’t heard of it either. The contact numbers provided were all the same number and not answered (no signal in the village so had to drive a couple of miles out of the village till I could get a signal). At one point, we even considered having to return home or find a Premier Inn for the night. I don’t know if this will help future visitors but I took the “what three words” reference: ///stylist.recorders.signature Somehow, we did spot the cottage on what was our last attempt. Negatives aside, all in all a lovely visit to a lovely cottage in a beautiful village. Our third stay in Staithes and the best cottage so far. We will be back.

The cottage, in itself, was everything we expected.

Very comfortable and ideally situated. We had a few problems with parking - which would have been handy if explained beforehand. Your information seemed to indicate that we could park opposite the sweet shop - which we did, there being no other place to park. As Staithes was extremely busy, we failed to notice that this extension of the 40 mins parking zone was actually a loading only bay. The signage on the road was very faint and the sign further down on the wall minute. Consequently we managed to get landed with a parking fine. We were advised by the parking attendant that a parking disc should be available in our cottage to enable us to park as a 'virtual' resident in the public carpark up the hill. This was not so and we subsequently ended up in the visitor car park which was £10 per day - £70 on top of the holiday cost which we had previously also paid £30 to re-book for July, June not being available to us due to lockdown. It would have been helpful if parking information had been available to us prior to arriving in Staithes. We regularily book cottages through Sykes but feel a bit let down with this one and would welcome your comments.

Spent a week in this spotless cottage with a beautiful sun trap of a decked garden and conservatory in August.

We were welcomed with local produce and everything was as described in the listing and more. The sofa was a home away from home, and dare for anyone to last more than ten minutes on it without falling asleep (thanks for the blankets) The games in the cupboard were fun to play in the evening with the teens and I ended up needing to buy a version to take home. Hinderwell is pretty. Highly recommend Mark's hospitality at the Brown Cow a short walk around the corner, together with the sausage rolls from the butchers and a darling little beauty salon with an owner who makes bespoke silver jewellery. Would recommend booking The Magpie in Whitby for fish and chips and also the steam train from Whitby to Pickering via Goathland (Aidensfield) On the whole 11/10. Would love to come back. A huge thank you to the owner. We saw North Yorkshire at its most vibrant.

This was a lovely central based property in the heart of the village .

Highly recommend pre booking parking as advertised. We did and this worked out very well as the council car park gets very busy at peak times . We did find the cottage a little difficult to find even with the instructions. Even the locals hadn’t heard of the passage the cottage is located in and there was no signpost? but after eventually finding it , we were very pleased with our choice of accommodation. The cottage is very quirky , clean and well equipped and everything we needed for a great stay . We would happily recommend this property to family and friends. Lots to do locally too . We found fossils , went sea fishing, cycled the cinder trail from Whitby to robin hoods bay , walked to runswick bay , and visited Saltburn on sea and sands end . We love this part of Yorkshire and never fails to deliver .

Lovely little cottage in a beautiful village.

It is a great location for the local shops/cafes and pubs, with plenty of lovely walks nearby. It was a little hard to find at first but a great, quiet location up a small alleyway. The local contact was very close by and really helpful and friendly. The cottage is very small but cosy and comfy; in fact the only thing missing was a couple of footstools to get your feet up after a day out. Three levels and two flights of stairs might not suit everyone, or the fact that you have to leave vehicles in the pay car park at the top of the village after unloading your luggage - we used the council one as it was cheaper despite what it says on the signpost to the private one! We took a weekday break in June for a much-needed short holiday and had a great relaxing time and hope to be back!
