    Ravenscar Holiday Cottages

With spectacular views and great walks, Ravenscar is a delightful destination in the Scarborough district of North Yorkshire. Situated about 10 miles north of Scarborough itself, this coastal village lies on the route of the 109-mile Cleveland Way National Trail, and the Lyke Wake Walk terminates here. The village’s dramatic clifftop panoramas and secluded beach coves make this a spot of compelling beauty, and it’s a favourite among hikers and fossil hunters. There’s more history too - the Romans once used Ravenscar as a signalling station and Nearby Raven Hall Hotel was once home to King George III’s personal physician.

What our customers say about their holidays

    • Diane - Verified booking

Mill cottage stole our hearts from the moment we walked through the door.

It was just perfect. The surrounding area was so peaceful and quiet with countryside and sea views from the fields. The cottage was so lovely and had everything we needed and more. It felt very spacious and was very well thought out. We loved the huge armchair in the lounge, the bedroom was beautiful with the biggest most comfiest bed we have ever seen. The bathroom was a delight with plenty of hot water. It was a pleasure to come home to the cottage after our daily adventures. We walked along the beach to Ravenscar and met the very noisy seals! Robin Hoods Bay has a wonderful free museum and we were lucky enough on one of our visits to RHB to speak to a wonderful lady who spent her childhood living in the lower bay and her stories brought the history to life. We visited Staithes and Whitby and were lucky enough to see Minke whales on our boat trip. Every day was an adventure and Mill cottage was the icing on the cake. My daughter and I have both left a little piece of our hearts with you at Mill Cottage and definitely would love to return. xx

This is a beautiful small cottage situated in a glorious setting with partial views out to sea across to Robin Hoods Bay from the kitchen and lovely moorland views from the main living area.

The cottage is well fitted out and provides opportunity for eating in if you don’t want to drive. There are wonderful walks from your door step and opportunities for exploring this beautiful area of North Yorkshire. The owners are very responsive to issues as and when they occur and communication was easy. It is worth noting that the cottage is isolated and the long drive from the main road is single lane with the last 900 metres being an extremely narrow bridle way with very few opportunities for passing. In wet weather the side verges are extremely soft making pulling off the road not an good option. Unless you are confident in rural reversing on a restricted road then this cottage may give you a problem especially in the busier summer months when there will be more visitors. If it wasn’t for the access to the property I would rec this without hesitation to anyone who loves the idea of rural isolation in comfort.

Sykes are aware of our dispute with Cottage Anton.

We left on Thursday because the host was unable to address our problems. We were offered a refund if we left early but so far we have only received a partial refund. During our state, we had no hot water which made it very uncomfortable when we showered. In addition, the towel rail in the bathroom was not working. The bedding was awful with the pillows being thin and very lumpy meaning that my wife ended up with numb ears. The duvet wasn’t big enough for the bed. The underfloor heating was lovely and the property itself is absolutely beautiful. The problem was the plumbing. I believe the host did try to engage your plumber but was unsuccessful. It’s horrible when you’re in a property surrounded by snow and you cannot have a lovely hot shower and then dry with lovely warm towels. Sykes are aware of our dispute and we expect them to get the matter resolved.

One of the best cottages we have stayed in.

A lovely, clean cottage in a delightful setting with a short walk to -and steep hill back up from - the sea. Extremely comfortable, huge bed, superb power shower, easy covered parking and everything available for a relaxing stay. The surroundings are wonderful - birds, deer etc. and so many accessible walks close by and within a short drive. We would strongly recommend this to others seeking a relaxing holiday deep in the North Yorkshire countryside but within close proximity to delightful places like Whitby, Staithes and the moors. One very minor point only: can we suggest a small welcome pack on arrival, with just enough to make a cup of tea and take a biscuit before settling in, would make everything absolutely ideal! Thank you for an excellent week.

      Owners most welcoming and informative.

Stunning location, rural and peaceful. Great for walking and cycling. At peace with the world. Storage for bicycles and plenty of space around the cottage. Cottage was well equipped and a high standard. Perhaps starting to age with little things like the shower door leaking. Highly recommend Ravenscar tea rooms, short drive or 2 mile walk away. Considering in all the literature mentions COVID deep cleaning, the cottage didn’t feel or visibly see the benefits of a deep clean. Rugs were grumpy and sofa was in need of a clean. Noting early departure of 9 am and removing bed linen and towels all before 9 am wasn’t relaxing.
