Guests say

Old Stables Cottage in Saltburn-by-the-Sea is a characterful and homely property, praised for its charm, warmth, and good location near local amenities and scenic walks. Guests appreciate the well-equipped kitchen, comfortable beds, and the wood burner, adding a cosy touch to the stay. While some guests noted areas for improvement, the overall sentiment is positive, with many expressing a desire to return.

The cottage generally receives positive remarks for cleanliness, with guests finding it tidy upon arrival. However, there are instances of guests noting issues such as a damp smell, dirty kitchenware, and pet hairs, which suggests room for improvement in this area.

The location is highly regarded for its proximity to local shops, the beach, and public transport, making it convenient for guests without a car. The scenic surroundings and easy access to the North York Moors and coastal resorts contribute to its high rating.

Guests find the cottage cosy and the beds comfortable, contributing to a pleasant stay. However, some guests mention a lack of sound insulation between rooms and issues with heating in certain areas, which slightly detracts from the overall comfort.

The property is well-equipped, with ample bedding and a wood burner. Nonetheless, guests have pointed out maintenance issues such as faulty showers and electrical concerns, as well as a need for more kitchenware, which affects the facilities score.

While some guests mention the presence of a dog bed and a guest sign-in for Netflix, there is insufficient information regarding consistent thoughtful gestures such as welcome gifts to accurately assess this category. Therefore, the score is set to null, and it should be noted that such amenities are not guaranteed.

The Old Stables has some lovely features and makes great use of the space available. Easy access for free parking and to local shops yet on a quiet cul de sac, perfect for a relaxing break.

It has iconic features and a warmth that is inviting. However, it could use some care and updating. With some 'love' it could be a 10/10 stay in a delightful unique spot. The 3-piece bathroom has a spongey floor which is concerning; the heating system is indeterminate each day; the kitchen could benefit from a larger fridge / freezer unit. Most concerning is an unmarked trip hazard at the main entrance - a small step-up from the door mat that caused my wife to trip and fall. A well-articulated welcome book containing updated / current & detailed instructions would be highly recommended. Happy to stay there again, but these steps would make the stay even better.

It was really homely, had everything we needed and was the perfect location for walks along the Cleveland Way to nearby beaches. The owners were really helpful and came to the rescue when our car wouldn’t start due to a flat battery. Thank you!
