What our customers say about their holidays

    • Ms Nadine Sunderland - Verified booking

Tawny Owl is a lovely cottage furnished to a high standard and with every piece of equipment and fittings you could ever want. It was ideal for our 9 month old grandson as everything is on one level and both cot and highchair were of high quality. We very much appreciated the extra touch of a bottle of Prosecco and chocolates in addition to tea, coffee and milk ready for our first brew on arrival. The hot tub was also appreciated at the end of a busy day visiting the area. We also very much enjoyed going to Runswick Bay which is very close to the cottage (about 5 minutes drive). Liz was very welcoming, helpful and prompt with any query we had. Although close to the main road, the cottage offers plenty of parking space which was an essential for us with baby equipment and there is easy access to Staithes by foot from the cottage (about 20 minute walk).

This is a gem of a find. The views over the bay are beautiful and you can walk into Staithes along the Cleveland way. Caroline, the host, has equipped the barn with everything you need and also provided an ample welcome pack. The hosts live on site and met us to welcome us and showed us round. The beds are comfortable and all the rooms tastefully decorated. We loved relaxing in the hot tub after a day out and my son loved playing table football and pool in the games room which we could access from outside. It was a lovely property for a family holiday. We came with the grandparents and it was perfect for everyone. It is one of the best quality self catering holiday accommodation we have found and stayed in. We would definitely recommend it and stay there again, when in the area.

We stayed at the barn Monday to Friday for my son’s wedding at Danby Castle, what a wonderful place to stay and a perfect place to finish off final wedding arrangements. The owner could not have been more helpful, checking in with me by text during our stay. The barn was a home from home and extremely well equipped, there was a selection of welcome produce waiting for us when we arrived which was much appreciated. The hot tub was great and the added bonus of use of the games room went down very well with the family. One of our party is a wheelchair user and the step free access into the property to the bedroom on the ground floor was very useful. We would love to return one day and see more of the local area, there is so much to see and do, thanks again

Spent a week in February at Grange Barn. The whole place was cosy and warm all week. The lounge is really comfortable and a great place to watch a film. All of the bedrooms are lovely, all tastefully furnished and all of us slept well. The hot tub got plenty of use and has stunning views of the sea. The games room was a fab bonus - kept all generations entertained. Welcome pack was great, including superb home baked treats. Caroline was a fabulous host and kept us well informed about the barn and was very knowledgeable about walks in the local area. We all had a super time and hope to return soon.

We had a fabulous week at Grange Barn. Caroline was a wonderful host and the hamper was great after a long journey. The bedrooms were all a great size and all with ensuites. Which was wonderful as 7 of us. Everybody enjoyed the hot tub and games room. Great views of the sea. Plenty to do in the surrounding area. I would recommend a visit to Staithes and Whitby. We had a great Sunday lunch at the Jack and Jill coaching Inn. Which catered for a gluten-free member of our family. There was also plenty of places to walk our dog. I Would highly recommend this holiday cottage.
