For days out, venture to Saltburn-by-the-Sea to enjoy a traditional day by the seaside, where you can laze on the glorious sands or soak up the views of the sea during a ride on the Saltburn Cliff tramway. Alternatively, head in the other direction and spend time in the charming seaside village of Staithes where you can walk Yorkshire's cliff top paths or enjoy the delights of rock pooling and fossil hunting on the village’s small beach. A public footpath runs alongside the farm which leads to The Cleveland Way, less than a mile away. Where the farm path joins the Cleveland Way is at the top of some of the highest cliffs on the east coast with spectacular views to the north towards Saltburn and the south towards Staithes. However before you reach the cliffs you will walk past Street House Farm where archaeologists discovered a Neolithic long cairn dating from 3300BC. The site contains the Saxon Princess bed burial, one of only a dozen known in the UK and certainly the most northernly, as the majority are on the south coast. Spectacular artefacts were discovered buried with the princess including gold set scallop shaped jewels which are now on permanent display at nearby Kirkleatham Museum. A scenic car journey along the coastline will take you to the resort town of Whitby which plays to a superb selection of amenities and attractions including the ruined Abbey which overlooks the coast and reached by the famous 199 steps and the Captain Cook Memorial Museum. Loftus is a small town resting on the east coast of Yorkshire, a short distance to the North York Moors National Park.
