Snaptrip says

Iona Cottage in Beadnell is highly praised for its comfort, modern amenities, and prime location close to beaches and local pubs. Guests appreciate the spacious rooms, cleanliness, and the thoughtful touches like welcome packs. While there's a mention of a maintenance issue, it was swiftly addressed, and the only significant concern was a bed needing replacement.

Guests that stayed at this property said

The cottage is generally regarded as spotlessly clean. However, one guest reported a mouldy bed base and stained mattress, slightly lowering the score.

The location is consistently praised for its proximity to beaches, historical sites, and local pubs, making it an ideal spot for exploring Northumberland.

Guests find the cottage comfortable with large bedrooms and good-sized bathrooms, although one guest suggested the main bedroom's bed needs replacing.

Facilities are modern and well-equipped, with a quick response to a hot water issue. The mention of a 'shabby' courtyard suggests some outdoor areas may need attention.

Thoughtful touches like welcome packs are mentioned, enhancing the guest experience. However, it should be noted that such amenities may vary and are not guaranteed.

About this property

Nestled in the heart of Beadnell village with a friendly neighbouring church, a cafe/bistro, and two welcoming pub/restaurants within a stone’s throw. Walk to the glorious, sandy beach (600 metres) to enjoy a scenic stroll at sunrise, followed by breakfast in the beachside cafe, or take a picnic to the dunes and watch the wind and kite surfers in action. Walk or cycle to Seahouses village (2 miles) and busy harbour; Bamburgh (5.5 miles); and Low Newton-by-the-sea (5.5 miles) on the picturesque coastal paths. Visit iconic Bamburgh Castle which dominates the skyline (5.5 miles) and across the causeway, a day on Holy Island’s Lindisfarne is a must. Book a boat tour to the Farne Islands, a haven for sea birds, seals, and puffins in the season. Head to Craster (8.5 miles) for great seafood and a bracing walk to Dunstanbugh Castle.

Enter the front door and into the hallway of this spacious, single-storey cottage. There is a cupboard where you can hang your outdoor coats and a door that leads out into the enclosed patio garden. Head in one direction down the hallway to the open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner with a comfortable ‘L’ shaped leather sofa and matching armchair where you can curl up and relax after your day’s adventures, and there is a Smart TV if you want to enjoy a movie night. The kitchen is well-equipped to cook up a family meal and has a breakfast bar with a couple of bar stools where you can sit with a drink and chat with the chef of the group. Enjoy sociable family mealtimes sitting around the dining table. The utility room off the hallway provides handy additional storage space. Follow the hallway in the other direction to find the three bedrooms: a bunk bedroom with open storage, perfect for children, a king-size bedroom with a TV, and a second king-size bedroom, also with a TV and en-suite shower room. The family shower room completes the accommodation

Outside, at the rear of the property, there is an enclosed patio garden with a bench seat, and garden furniture where you can enjoy the sunshine, al fresco drinks, and meals. Sit out here at nighttime to gaze up at the super-starry Northumberland sky.

Fantastic base to explore the beautiful coastline & surrounding area. Sandwiched between 2 pubs/restaurants, plus a short stroll to the beach - we are already planning a return in 2025. That should leave plenty of time to sort the shabby enclosed courtyard area out, but the cottage itself is fantastic.

Iona Cottage is a gem. Brilliantly located in Beadnell and excellently equipped. This is such a great location for a break on the Northumbrian coast. The instructions for arrival were perfect and the description of the cottage were very accurate. Walking the dog on the beach every morning was easily doable. The pub is across the road (not the toughest commute I have ever done :-) ) I would certainly recommend this place

We had a wonderful time. Perfect location, cottage spotlessly clean. Stylish interior, lovely bed linen and thoughtful welcome packs. And when the hot water had a hiccup, after a phone call we had a friendly maintenance guy turn up 30 mins later. Superb service!
