What our customers say about their holidays

    • Ms Sinha - Verified booking

I recently had the pleasure of staying at Wren Cottage for 7 relaxing nights. What a superb little cottage in the heart of Middleham. From the online pictures, I knew that the cottage would be pleasant. To my surprise, it was even better than expected. It is obvious that the cottage has been decorated with love and attention to detail. I adored the double bay windows and tartan accents in the bedroom... such a nice cottage feel. The kitchen was also extremely well appointed. I was surprised to find a freezer (which came in handy for leftovers from the local Indian takeaway). I will definitely recommend Wren Cottage to my friends and family when they visit this beautiful part of the world. Thank you for a great week!

    • Mr Lester - Verified booking

The cottage perfectly suited my stay in regards location and amenities. Everything I needed was provided and a great welcome pack. However, the directions to find the property need to be improved I feel. Eg 'property is behind the Black Bull pub' was not adequate arriving in the dark as I did. It should say, 'to the left of the pub there is a entranceway leading to a farm style gate behind which is a yard with four properties of which Wren cottage is one.' Coincidentally, one evening I met another visitor who couldn't find the next door property (Teal) as it was so dark. Better directions would solve this.

Wren cottage is a nicely maintained place and well equipped, solid wifi a bonus! suitable for a couple and is dog friendly. The age and character of the place mean it's a bit awkward for modern living - if you prefer a king sized bed (as we do, being tall) you might find the double a bit cramped. Location is Middleham, a couple of miles from Leyburn, which is a good place to base yourself for exploring this part of the Dales with shops, pubs, cafes and food outlets - Campbells of Leyburn is a great place to pickup provisions. Some lovely walks and lots to see and do in the area.

We loved the cottage and Swaledale. Beautiful landscape and loads to do. We particularly enjoyed The Wensleydale Creamery and the rope factory in Hawes. Also The Wensleydale Railway, candle factory and pottery in Leyburn. Lovely walk to Hardraw Force as well. Two days wasn't enough! First snow flurry on Saturday morning. Cottage was well equipped, particularly the kitchen and the fire was very cosy. We had a great break in The Yorkshire Dales and will be back.

    • Confirmed Guest - Verified booking

The cottage is typically English, set in a pretty village, in a beautiful part of Yorkshire. The bedrooms are spacious enough for our party of three adults and two small children and the bathroom and en-suite shower room have recently been modernized. Downstairs the lounge, dining room and kitchen are more traditional with adequate modern facilities. The outside patio is great for alfresco dining and the garden and lawn provide a peaceful environment.
