Have an adventure with North Yorkshire log cabins

North Yorkshire is a beautiful county that encompasses the Yorkshire Dales and North York Moors National Park.

This makes it a great destination for hiking, cycling, and other exciting outdoor activities. If you want to take it easy, you'll find a selection of charming seaside towns with golden sandy beaches such as Whitby and Robin Hood's Bay.

Of course, unspoilt scenery and idyllic villages aren't the only attractions in this delightful area. There are also bustling market towns like Thirsk, and the incredible historic city of York to the south, with loads of must-visit sites such as the Jorvik Viking Centre and the remains of its spectacular castle.

To complete your trip, you'll need the perfect accommodation. Fancy staying in a North Yorkshire log cabin tucked away in the scenic countryside? Or how about a lodge complete with its own hot tub with sweeping views of nature? At Snaptrip, our range of North Yorkshire holiday rentals have something for everyone.

Why choose a North Yorkshire weekend break or staycation?

From the natural beauty and dramatic landscapes of the North York Moors to the awe-inspiring historical landmarks like Whitby Abbey and York Castle, North Yorkshire is the perfect destination for a fun-filled, relaxing holiday.

England's largest county is blessed with some of the most majestic landscapes and rural areas from dales to coast. You'll find picturesque villages and vibrant market towns, all waiting to be explored.

Start your adventure in Knaresborough and gaze out at the River Nidd before visiting the beautiful remains of Knaresborough Castle. From there, head to the pretty village of Staithes, which is built between two cliffs and boasts lots of little shops and tempting restaurants and cafes.

York is one of the most popular cities to visit in North Yorkshire and for very good reason. You can walk on the medieval walls of the city (the longest in England), visit the brilliant Jorvik Viking Centre to discover the history of the Vikings, step back in time at the York Castle Museum, and lots more. Don't forget to go to the Shambles for a spot of shopping, and grab a cup of tea and a scone at Betty's Tearoom.

For fans of Gothic horror, head to the historic coastal resort of Whitby. Perched on the Yorkshire coast, discover the ruins of the ancient Whitby Abbey, and watch out for vampires, as Whitby is where Bram Stoker was inspired to create the legendary Count Dracula!

If you're a history buff, you'll struggle to fit in all the historical landmarks in North Yorkshire. Castles line the landscape from the coast to the Dales, including the remains of Scarborough Castle, an important royal structure from the Middle Ages, Helmsley Castle, which stands proudly over the lovely town of Helmsley, and the Norman fortress Richmond Castle.

No visit to North Yorkshire is complete without experiencing its natural, wild beauty. The North York Moors is a registered National Park, which is filled with wild heather moorland. The Moors stretches to an incredibly rugged coastline, designated as a Heritage Coast, which guarantees stunning walks.

A log cabin in North Yorkshire provides a unique and comfy home away from home. All of our North Yorkshire self-catering properties feature well-equipped kitchens, comfy beds, and, of course, epic views on your doorstep that you won't find anywhere else.

We have plenty of lodges and log cabins in North Yorkshire for you to choose from, whatever your requirements or budget might be. Whether you want a secluded cabin for a hike up Malham Cove Waterfall and around Fountains Abbey ruins, or something on the outskirts of York itself.

What our customers say about their holidays

    • Luke - Verified booking

Number 7 The Oaks was beautifully clean and very well equipped.

The living room, kitchen and main bathroom were of a good size. We cooked each day and this worked well. The double bed was very comfortable. We stayed in October and the central heating worked very well and there was also an electric heater in the living room- cosy and warm. The balcony was a great size. A welcoming bottle of fizz and biscuits was a lovely touch. The statics are well spread out and the site itself was very quiet. The staff at reception were very friendly and helpful and there’s masses to do in the area. The staff were very knowledgeable about possible day trips. Things to consider… The site is very close to the A65 so if you need total peace and quiet don’t book on this site. Quarry lorries come past day and night and they do make a noise-especially at night! There is no information folder at the static. Sykes usually has one with lots of helpful info in (we had to seek help to get the boiler to work).

We never expected such high standards, especially sited on a holiday camp.

Everything was absolutely perfect. I don't know where to start. Bottle of wine and a box of chocolates. Tea, coffee and milk waiting for us. Everything we needed supplied and of good quality. Heating, if needed, and hot water plentiful and indeed hot. Cooker, microwave, kettle, toaster, dish washer, washing machine, 4 televisions, cutlery, glassware, pots and pans, crockery, all in superb condition and top grade. We liked the tea, coffee, sugar set and the kettle so much we did an online search and bought some for ourselves. Standards way exceed anything we have experienced in major chain motel rooms, surpass any self catering we have visited and better any hotels we have stayed at. I find it impossible to make a negative or even neutral comment about this holiday cottage. The owners deserve to be proud of themselves. Well done.

There were numerous things that need addressing with this property.

On arrival it was raining chair cushions were all outside wet and umbrella thrown on the floor, weeds everywhere and decking dirty and in need of a brush, weeds growing in all gutters and rubbish under caravan. On entry the property seemed very nice however as we got settled in there were crumbs still under toaster which made you feel that nothing had been cleaned properly. Fridge door was broken so you had to open two doors to get in. Kettle was dangerous and scolded my hand as lid open when pouring. Ensuite bathroom towel rail held on with blue tack and the list goes on. I've used sykes for many years now and have found in recent years none of the properties are checked properly and they seem to rely on people staying to inform them of problems! Seriously considering taking my business elsewhere....

Our two night stay at the charming Yurt was magical! From the moment we arrived, we were embraced by the warm and genuine hospitality of Jo & Steve. the wonderful owners who made our experience truly unforgettable. The Yurt itself was a cost haven. Breakfast (and the burger!!) were culinary delights that delighted our taste bud. One of the highlights was to interact with their cows, (you can feed the pigs too)/Leaving the yurt is bittersweet as we get to leave behind our magical retreat BUT we are already planning our return and this time with our friends.Thank you Jo and Steve for your hospitality, your chats, the food everything. Thank you for the personal touch that made our stay so special. It was the best (my best) birthday ever.

We have had the most amazing week at Cayton Pines, thank you so much for letting us stay in your beautiful lodge.

The facilities are second to none, it’s like staying in a boutique hotel. The lodge was so clean and there was everything you could possibly need within. There was a bottle of wine and a box of chocs along with tea, coffee, milk & sugar waiting for us. It was great to be able to have a cuppa as soon as we got there. Our dog was welcome and our kids and baby grandchild joined us too, the cot and high chair were brilliant! I can highly recommend Cayton Pines and have already told my brother how to make a booking. We will most definitely be back in fact I am going to book a week off work later in the year and I’m going to rebook this week!! You should definitely do the same!
