What our customers say about their holidays

    • Annette - Verified booking

We spent a weekend at "The Stang Hideaway" in August, for a relaxing 3-night stay with my partner and our little dog.

The views were gorgeous, and the location was as peaceful as a library on a snowy day. But there were a few surprises that gave us a good laugh! First off, the wine cooler was ice-cold—unlike the fridge, which was warm enough to double as a sauna . If you’re planning to brew some coffee, don't forget to bring your own coffee pods; the same goes for dishwasher tablets as there was non available and the free washing up liquid was limited to a very small bottle (use sparingly). The "fully equipped" kitchen was a bit like a game of culinary hide-and-seek, with basic items playing hard to get. And if you’re using the breakfast bar or that “sumptuous” sofa, be prepared to get very close to your partner—like, "hope-you-really-love-each-other" close, perfect if your on a romantic break! Now, let’s talk Wi-Fi. Remember the days of dial-up internet? If you’re feeling nostalgic, you’re in luck—this Wi-Fi will take you right back to the 90s with its charmingly slow speeds which can cause the TV to frequently show the circle of death when it tries to catch up, perhaps it was intentional to create a romantic atmosphere. The outside decking is lovely, but it could use a gate to be truly dog-friendly. And don't be surprised if you step outside to find a crowd in the treehouse—it’s open to everyone on the park, so you might end up with an audience for your morning coffee or romantic sunset. All in all, it was clean and the tranquility was delightful, the stay didn’t quite match up to the price given there’s a lot of competition in the area. Here’s hoping for some improvements in the future, but hey, we still enjoyed the peace and quiet and lovely views!

Just had a 2 night stay at Chalet 5, and I must say the Property has the potential to be very nice however a few major points have let it down for us.

1 - the hot tub, the private patio area itself is very nice and private, however the tub needed a very good clean, after opening the cover on the first evening we noticed the water was already very cloudy, to the point you could not see your hands, we also found a bottle top on the bottom of the tub which was not from us, when the jets are on the tub fills up with bubbles to the point they was almost overflowing within minutes, and lastly the smell, we cut our tub time short because after using the tub the second time we noticed a nasty odour coming from the tub. 2 - the towels, we was only given 3 towels in total, 1 being a hand towel, 1 medium sized and then 1 large bath towel. The hand towel had to be used as a bath mat due to the fact the floor was in the bathroom slippery and no mat was provided. This also meant we had 1 towel per person for both the tub and the shower which was not very hygienic. 3 - the bed, the sheets were fresh and clean however the mattress seemed poor quality meaning it sunk in the middle making it an uncomfortable nights sleep. The car parking, location, kitchenette area and views were all good, the power went out whilst we were there and the owner was quick to sort this issue and update us accordingly however these 3 problems have left us feeling disappointed as the property itself is very clean and done to a good standard, as previously mentioned it has the potential to be a very good stay however I have left today feeling very dissatisfied.

      Pretty and clean.

Photos on website misleading. Looked like the patio was bigger and not separate from chalet... had to go across a little kind of alleyway which wasn't private from the other chalets. Was only a bed and a small chair, would've been nice to have a small sofa maybe..... In handbook it said ask for more towels .... no place to really put them to dry off from using hot tub....would have been an inconvenience to the staff keep on asking as we got through a few of our own being in the hot tub alot. Had to shower before and after using the hot tub. With it being self catering it would benefit from more than just the tiny air fryer and the microwave in the cupboard. The bar was only open on our second night. Closest chip shop (which was great) was 5 miles drive away. Was unable to connect to the Wifi as the password kept coming up invalid. Would have contacted the owner but was stated in handbook only contact between 9pm and 9.30am .... with only being there 2 nights was not really worth it. Had a nice stay all in all, only booked as was on offer....it would have been very disappointing if had paid full price. Maybe been spoilt in other places we have stayed in.

After some initial confusion as to whether or not the booking was pet friendly, we were excited about our booking.

On arrival, we were pleasantly surprised. The room was bright and clean with everything needed for our short stay. The lack of a bar/ restaurant close enough to the site restricted our choice of evening activity due to the need to drive but we nonetheless managed to entertain ourselves, largely thanks to the hottub which was very pleasant. Somewhere to hang towels/ robes in the hot tub area and the provision of somewhere to place drinks while in the tub are our only suggestions for improvement. Unfortunately on our final evening the occupants of one of the neighbouring chalets caused significant disturbance, disrupting the sleep other visitors and ourselves. The shouting and banging resulting from the drunken behaviour carried easily and very loudly through the chalets which was obviously not ideal. At 3 o clock in the morning we also weren't sure how to report the issue which at times sounded particularly nasty and carried on for some time. Overall, we had a lovely stay with the Snooty fox with the only issues being outside of their control and we would therefore definitely recommend.

The property is beautiful and very clean!

!! The bathroom is gorgeous and the bathtub is a key feature. I loved having the bathroom door open to the outside overlooking the wheat field while soaking in the tub. Bed was very comfortable. Only a couple of things that need a little work. The owners would benefit from staying, cooking and cleaning there for a few days as there are some essentials missing such as dishcloths, dish rack to dry dishes, dish washer tablets and we may have needed more than one roll of loo roll. It didn’t hinder our stay too much, but it lost a bit of that luxury feel someone has worked hard to make. The other thing is, the photos are a little deceptive and don’t show you are attached to a caravan park at the back. It’s still secluded and very quite but attached to a caravan park that appears to hold people’s mobile caravans. We really enjoyed our stay and would recommend but would encourage the owners to look at little essentials.
