Snaptrip says

Lavender Cottage in the Yorkshire Dales is highly praised for its cleanliness, charming traditional features, and stunning location. Guests appreciate the cosy atmosphere, picturesque village setting, and the convenience for exploring the Dales. While some minor issues are noted, the overall sentiment is one of satisfaction and a desire to return.

Guests that stayed at this property said

The cottage consistently receives high marks for cleanliness, with multiple reviews noting it as 'spotlessly clean'. This suggests a well-maintained property that guests find comfortable and hygienic.

The location is frequently described as beautiful and ideal for exploring the Dales, with great views and a friendly village atmosphere. However, some guests mention parking difficulties and accessibility concerns, slightly lowering the score.

Guests find the cottage cosy and quaint, with a comfortable bed and a traditional fireplace adding to the charm. Some mention the lack of a shower and the coldness during stormy weather as minor discomforts.

The cottage is well-equipped according to several reviews, but some guests suggest improvements such as better heating, a shower installation, and sharper kitchen knives. The presence of an open fire and broadband are positives.

While some guests mention nice gestures like milk and biscuits left for them, there is not enough consistent information across reviews to accurately score thoughtfulness. Therefore, this score is set to null.

About this property

An outstanding Grade II listed terraced cottage, in a quiet position near the centre of the beautiful Dales village of Askrigg. With outstanding views of the surrounding area, this lovingly-restored Askrigg cottage is warm and snug, beautifully furnished to a high standard and retaining many of the original features including a cast iron open fire, window shutters, beams and exposed stonework. Featuring an open plan ground floor living area with modern, well equipped kitchen, a cosy sitting area, window seat and original open fire, this Askrigg cottage makes a wonderful year-round base. The stairs lead up to a lovely romantic bedroom with feature fireplace and cast iron bed. The bathroom includes a cast iron bath, making this delightful Askrigg cottage a great romantic retreat. Outside this Askrigg cottage is a shared, south-facing lawned garden area with wonderful far-reaching views. Accessed through the ancient churchyard and only a stone’s throw from the centre of the village, this is an ideal location for that much-promised break in the country, with the added value of a thriving community on the doorstep. Askrigg offers three pubs serving food, a bakery and deli, two tea rooms, a village shop and newsagents and a Post Office. The area provides an array of interesting walks and excellent biking opportunities, and is ideally placed for exploring this beautiful corner of the Yorkshire Dales National Park. Wensleydale is one of the most beautiful of the Yorkshire Dales and there are fabulous walks from the doorstep to Aysgarth and the lovely falls. This is a great location, from the castles at Bolton and Middleham, to nearby Hawes with its famous cheese factory and lovely market. This truly is an Askrigg cottage with everything to ensure that you have a relaxing break in this quiet and unspoilt corner of the county.

The beautiful village of Askrigg is set in stunning Wensleydale. Askrigg is known to many as the home of Skeldale House where vet James Herriot lived in "All Creatures Great and Small." This breathtaking area is home to many beauty spots including Aysgarth Falls and nearby Semerwater, Yorkshire's only natural lake, which was formed (so legend says) after a weary traveller was refused hospitality from a raging storm by the villagers and so cursed the village to a watery end. There are castles at Bolton and Middleton, the spectacular Hardraw Force, England's highest single drop waterfall at a height of 99 feet and many other market towns and villages to discover. Askrigg is a wonderful village from which to discover this magnificent area and makes a great holiday base.

Cottage warm and cosy. We didn’t need the coal provided in the outside store all lined up with our name on it (cute). The pint of milk in fridge nice touch but no tea/coffee welcome tray. Cottage needs an outside light to entrance as completely unlit area. Access to cottage is through a squeeze stile, so keep to smaller suitcases. Light over bath is at head height when you stand up. The bedroom wall light is at eye level and needs moving. We had three knocks thankfully no cuts. Bed was very comfy. Lovely village with great pubs and food. The Bake Well bakery/coffee shop is a must visit

A lovely stay - everything was perfect - the house was situated in a perfect location - It was very quiet and we didn’t even hear the rain and wind when the storm hit as the cottage is situated in the dip - we enjoyed our stay

Well equipped and modern interior, without losing its character. Comfortable lounge area, nice bedroom and good bathroom. Sunny aspect and brilliant view from the lawn in front of the property. The fact that this is not a private garden didn't detract from our enjoyment; actually we had some pleasant chats with passers by. Car parking at the neighbouring churchyard was fine, no problems.
