What our customers say about their holidays

    • Miss Tiernan - Verified booking

A beautiful cottage with a stunning view from the lounge. The approach from the road is not great, but once inside it's lovely and welcoming, There were loads of dog towels to use and a guest umbrella in the lobby. This was lovely I thought and useful! The dining kitchen is pretty with its ornamental aga. The kitchen itself is very small but opens into the dining area so doesn't feel small. There's no dishwasher or washing machine/tumble dryer. The heating was on when we arrived making it a lovely warm welcome. The fire was prepped ready for us to use. The fire did not give out great heat but the heating could be easily changed and the house warmed up quickly. It was well presented, clean and tidy. I loved the crisp white bedding and towels provided. There was a hair dryer. Because the owners use the house themselves occasionally there was plenty of stuff there to use i thought. I needed a plaster as there was a pack in a drawer! There's a bird feeder in the garden and it was lovely sitting watching the birds even close up with the binoculars which have great resolution to look at the birds or up to the top of the hill! Books, maps games there should you desire to use. Had there been a washer dryer and dishwasher I would rate this accommodation 5 star.

Perfect location from village with wonderful views from the lounge, and stunning views of the stars at night. Cottage is beautifully decorated. The garden is small, and the wall is very low. With the neighbouring cottage also a holiday let accepting dogs, this is a factor for us, we wouldn’t have used the garden with our dog off lead as it is not secure. Sofas were terrible - very uncomfortable with cushions that continually slide off the front and we aren’t the first guests to mention this. Loved Hawes, good places to eat and the Wensleydale Pantry offers take away from their menu, we will return to the village as the walks from here are some of our new favourites. We would recommend the cottage to friends but not without telling them of the downsides and unfortunately we are unlikely to book the cottages again ourselves unless the sofas are significantly improved.

We had an excellent stay at The Byre.

The accommodation was extremely good and had everything we needed. The bed was very comfortable and gave us a better night’s sleep than at home! We also enjoyed the walk-in shower, which was used a lot during our stay during a heatwave in September. The 2 dogs on the farm were very friendly and got on fine with our dog. Melanie and Paul were the perfect hosts and made us very welcome. They didn’t seem to mind us being nosy and taking an interest in their 4 lovely horses and other things on the farm. The Beeswing Inn is only a few minutes walk away, is dog friendly, and well worth a visit for a meal and a drink. We hope to return for another holiday at The Byre and would recommend it for anyone thinking of going. Paul, Gay & Masie the black lab.

Snowdrop Cottage had everything you needed for a great stay.

The cottage was spacious, clean, comfortable and well equipped. As somebody who has to have a dark bedroom, the shutters on the windows were a bonus as this made the room dark and relaxing ready for a good nights sleep. The beds were comfortable and even get a choice of pillows. The extra touches that Christine & Steven had thought off, ie plenty of tea towels, condiments, washing up liquid to name a few, were very appreciated as these are things you either bring or have to buy. Christine's communication was excellent, with a great knowledge of the area. The weather for our stay was not great, so we did not get to do any of the walks from the cottage, and also missed out on some other suggestions, so we are looking to come back next year.

We had a lovely stay in this cottage with our two little dachshunds from 22 to 29 September 23.

It is well appointed and met all our needs. In a quiet location yet in easy reach of all amenities. A real gem.. We looked forward to returning to the cottage after our days out as it is really comfortable and cosy. Similarly we were able to hunker down when the weather was inclement. Fortunately the weather was largely kind and we were able to go out and about. The location afforded us easy access to the coast. We had enjoyable trips to Scarborough, Whitby and Filey. These are traditional resorts, maybe not on trend these days, but we love them. We also had some enjoyable drives inland off the beaten track. Lovely dog walks were had from the cottage door. Marvellous times and we are already planning our return . Highly recommended.
