The picturesque Pennine community of Cragg Vale is located on the longest slope in England, the steep and winding Cragg Road, which is still a significant obstacle for cyclists. 1000 feet above sea level, the road twists up to a stunning moorland covered in heather. Wooded cloughs and babbling brooks that tumble down the hillsides urge walkers to explore the surrounding area. The community of Luddenden and the magnificent oak woodlands that make up Jerusalem Farm, a nearby nature reserve made well-known by the television programme In Loving Memory, are located on the other side of the valley. In fact, Happy Valley and Last Tango in Halifax both featured this lovely locale. Restaurants, cafés, bistros, markets, an independent movie theatre, art galleries, and the gorgeous Rochdale Canal can all be found in the eclectic and bohemian town of Hebden Bridge, which is close by.

Would definitely return and recommend. Peaceful location, only 10 minutes to village shops and train station. Not far to travel to nearby villages of Haworth and Hebden Bridge. Ideally situated. Well equipped kitchen and lovely shower room. Pete was friendly and on hand to help quickly if required.

Very modern with a beautiful walk-in shower room. Exceptionally clean. The hosts left a nice welcome goodie box including milk, biscuits and wine! Comfortable bed that would be better if you could access it from both sides rather than it being up against the wall. Lacking a wardrobe and drawer pack in the room but these small issues would not deter us from staying here again.

Marvelous bathroom. Very luxurious. Although the bed was very comfortable it was difficult to get into and out of for my husband because it was set against the wall on one side. As this would probably present no problem to kids and young people it might be an idea to consider people of an advanced age. We were very pleased that Pete and Helen were helpful in adjusting the heating which presented a bit of a problem to us.
