This recently renovated terraced cottage is located in the town of Weymouth in Dorset and is close to the harbour and the beaches of Weymouth and Castle Cove. South Harbour Cottage is a wonderful property for a couple or small family wanting to enjoy a relaxing seaside holiday.
Enter the property to find a contemporary kitchen/diner, well-equipped for preparing delicious meals that can be enjoyed around the dining table, with double doors opening up onto the rear garden, as well as underfloor heating to keep the space warm and cosy. The sitting room has stunning wooden floorboards, a warming woodburning stove and choice of leather sofas to relax onto while enjoying watching the Freeview TV. Upstairs are two bright and spacious bedrooms, a king-size double and a twin, both with ample storage space and wardrobes, served by the stylish, tiled family bathroom, with a choice of bath or shower. Outside is an enclosed garden with decking area and a shed for storage. The enviable location of the property means you are a short walk from Hope Square and a host of restaurants, cafés and pubs, while just beyond is the pretty working harbour and glorious sandy beach. Stroll around Nothe Gardens and visit Nothe Fort, a Victorian coastal fort and museum with labyrinthine tunnels. Jump on a boat from the harbour to explore the coastline, visit Weymouth Museum and the SEA LIFE Centre for a family-friendly day out, while the Isle of Portland is just a 15-minute drive away with spectacular views and the famous Portland Bill Lighthouse. Explore RSPB Lodmoor nature reserve and look out for a variety of wildlife as you head along the coast east towards Bowleaze Cove, Lulworth Cove and Durdle Door, while a trip west brings you to Abbotsbury and West Bay. Visit Dorchester, Thomas Hardy’s “Casterbridge”, only 7 miles away, or take a journey along the scenic coastal road and call in at Abbotsbury Swannery and Subtropical Gardens.

The bed was comfortable and clean, but the sofas needed a deep clean and weren't very comfortable.

Loved the bath! And the kitchen was great, with everything we needed. The bedrooms were very comfortable and we both slept very well. The stair gate was a great help with keeping the dog downstairs as he doesn't like to feel left out. The only reason I've not given four stars was I had to park a few streets away (I hadn't realised it was a single track road outside the property), and I wasn't so comfortable on the sofas in the lounge, but that is nothing against the sofas themselves, just my own personal preference. Overall, a very enjoyable stay, thank you.

The cottage was great and it was a nice surprise to find a great selection of beach items for the children and a huge haul of board games. Parking was a slight issue but we knew before arrival that parking wasnât available. If there were any way of providing guests with a weekly permit that would be really helpful. We would definitely stay again.
