What our customers say about their holidays

    • Rachel - Verified booking

This property really has the wow factor when you walk in.

The living space is vast and the kitchen is gorgeous and well equipped. So much thought into what is needed when you're on holiday. The bed in the main bedroom was very comfortable. There are a few disappointments and I loved this cottage but parking is tricky and I knew this when I booked. Not much you can do about it which I understand. The email I received from the owner was really appreciated and they mentioned their housekeeper has very high standards but I can't agree with this. There was a big cobweb around the fire extinguisher in the kitchen- looked like it had been there a while too, also cobwebs in the bathroom. The microwave could of had a wipe over- removing the dust. The fruit bowl (ornament on the dining table) had a long curly hair in. The garden had a number of weeds which just need to be attended to. The clothes rail in the bedroom was dusty. The handsoap in the bathroom ran out on the 4th day which was a surprise when there was only 2 of us and we were out for most of the day. I know these things sound trivial but it does make a difference to your holiday experience. If the property owner isn't aware of the above issues then they can't rectify them for future guests.

We had a lovely stay at miners rest which is so homely clean and has everything needed, Sam has thought of so many extras that you find you may need while on holiday that most cottages don’t supply, plus the gorgeous scones jam and cream.

The cottage itself has been renovated beautifully by Sam which makes it so unique. Plenty of spaces to park and yes it’s near the corner shop where there are people stopping and parking to visit it but really this isn’t a issue at all inside you don’t hear the road noise which isn’t a busy main road it’s so relaxing and quiet inside the cottage and garden. It’s has many lovely walks nearby our favourite being The Loe Bar Beach and The Loe lakes walks, there are a lots of lovely NTrust places to visit locally too. The nearest fish and chips, always a must when on holiday, was Cousin’s Jacks they were lovely. We will definitely return to Miners Rest when we want to holiday in Cornwall again wouldn’t even think about looking for a different cottage as you wouldn’t find another as nice as this one. Thank you Sam for making our stay so relaxing and lovely eve on the rainy days. Our dog gave it the thumbs up too he felt very welcome.

Miner’s Rest was everything we could have wished for, and more!

It was immediately obvious that a lot of thought had gone into the needs of guests, and the owners should be commended for their attention to detail! However, it is highly unlikely that we shall be making a return visit due to the lack of parking available! We arrived on Friday evening, and parked in front of the property, and the car remained there over Saturday night. On the Sunday morning, our car was ticketed by a traffic enforcement officer who pointed out that the double yellow lines, which appeared to have been painted over and were barely, were still live and so we were obliged to pay the £35 fine! Finding a parking space close to the property was the cause of much frustration, given that we had my 80 year old mother-in-law with us! Thumbs up for the property, but thumbs firmly down for the lack of parking!

Wow what a fantastic place Little week cottage is, what a gem.

Lee and Clare the owners were great, friendly and helpful but without being intrusive. They made us feel very welcome right from the first day. We had a few welcome gifts on arrival which was thoughtful and appreciated. We had an amazing week at the cottage. The view from the garden was stunning. The surroundings and local places to visit were nearby. The cottage is a perfect base to explore Dartmoor and it is not too far to nip over into Cornwall. Our dogs had a fabulous time too and were made to feel welcome. They loved exploring the garden and surrounding areas we visited. The cottage had everything you will need to make your stay amazing. We didn’t want to leave. We can highly recommend staying at Little week cottage.

We had a lovely stay at Miner’s Rest.

The property had everything you could need/want. The layout and size was perfect for our family (1 child & 2 dogs). The corner shop was very handy. The parking on the street was always available you just might have to go down a bit from the house and walk up but not an issue at all. The location worked and we travelled to & visited many parts of Cornwall. St Ives is less than 1/2 hour away and was one of our favourites! Overall our stay was lovely and we will be back. The only thing to raise and isn’t an issue or concern but the owners might want to know, is that the hallway/entrance had a smell, which sometimes came into the lounge. This wouldn’t impact us staying again but perhaps a deep clean might solve :)
