What our customers say about their holidays

    • The B Family - Verified booking

We have been at the cottage for four weeks while building work has been completed in our own house. The cottage has been a perfect retreat from dust and rubble at home. The cottage is an old building, carefully updated with excellent facilities. The charm of the cottage is in its age and setting and history. The charming quirks are part of that. The garden is secure and if you find a dog here, then Sadie refused to leave! During our stay we welcomed three baby hedgehogs to the garden and watched the aerial gymnastics of bats at dusk. The walks to the north of the cottage towards Frith Farm are quite stunning and you will generally encounter deer and their young each day. Walkers, artists and photographers will revel in the setting. The owners have provided a fantastic guide and history of the house and the cottage is graced with the wonderful art and sculptures of their talented mother. A joy to stay!

We had a really lovely week's stay in Dairy Cottage and John and Debbie were great hosts. The two resident cats were very friendly too! The cottage was sparkling clean, warm and cosy with everything we could possibly need and a lovely welcoming gift of a home-baked cake! The cottage is set in beautiful and peaceful surroundings with the opportunity to spot some red deer - and the baby lambs in the adjoining fields were a great Easter bonus! It was a perfect place to relax and unwind as well as providing a great base for exploring all the best that Devon and Cornwall have to offer. We would love to come back and stay again.

This chalet for 2 overlooking the bowling green and sea is fantastic, lie ins , coffee on the veranda , I even went to the fisherman's catch shop 5mins away and got fresh scallops for 1.

50 each and had for lunch with a chilled chardonnay in fridge , the shops pubs with good restaurants and sandy beach are all 5 mins walk away. There is, most importantly, a numbered car space on the gated park outside chalet so no need to worrying about parking, or having wine for lunch! 2 bedrooms , max 2 adults ,so a double bed each( both are against a wall so worth doing, )one bedroom had patio doors to veranda so a sea view. There is everything you need at property even loo rolls, tea towels, towels , and seat cushions for patio furniture . I hope to visit again soon Visit 9 to 15 June 23

It’s all about location, and this holiday chalet has that in spades!

Yes, there are compromises to be made one of which is lack of storage in bedrooms. I agree with a previous review that a small unit with drawers to replace the bedside tables would be useful. Also, if you are not very tall the shelves in the bedroom, particularly the main one, are too high to be used. A couple of lower shelves, instead of the picture, would be a great help. We haven’t yet been put off staying here as we have returned home after our fourth stay, and we hope to return next year. I would like to say a thank you to the owner for putting in wifi, it has made a big difference.

The property was beautiful & very well equipped. There was a small patio area available to use which was a bonus. The owners greeted us on arrival & made sure everything was perfect for our stay, including an amazing welcome pack of local produce. The property is in the owners gardens, which are truly amazing & you have a lovely view of these from the full height windows. Situated off the road, the location is very peaceful, only interrupted by beautiful birdsong. Very peaceful location in a lovely village which has incredible history. We would definitely recommend.
