The Lake District is one of Britain’s most loved National Parks. Visitors to Askham will be within easy reach of Ullswater; where you can swim, kayak and sail. It also offers lovely lakeside walks and beautiful views. There are also several fells to conquer nearby if you’re looking for a more challenging day out. The village itself is also home to two pubs and the lovely Askham Hall with its gardens and cafe.

What our customers are saying about our Holiday Cottages In Askham To Rent.

"The cottage was ideal for our family - 2 adults, 3 children - age range 6 to 13 and our dog.It was well equipped and the rooms were of a fairly good size. The master bed room and the double room were particularly good in terms of size. The furniture and decor were tasteful but not fussy so we felt at home there and did not feel worried about children or dog being around expensive ornaments etc - i.e. it has a lovely lived in feel. The separate lounge and dinning room allow for flexible living. The utility room was a good size and particularly useful in terms of boot and coat storage. It was also an ideal place to dry off a dog.The woodburing stove was a treat and kept the downstairs very warm when lit.The village is quiet and lovely. I was very relaxing to work from the cottage to different parts of the village. There is a good shop and lovely places to eat in nearby Askham. Penrith is also within easy reach. This was a corner of the Lake District that we have not explored before and we enjoyed it as a less busy place compared to the central lakes."

"Lovely cottage in a quiet village location. Good food is available from the village, and the local shop (despite it's diminutive size) is surprising well stocked - Penrith is within a few miles if larger stores are required. Great access to the northern Lake District. The cottage itself is very spacious for 4. The mezzanine area set above the Kitchen is a great space for the kids to escape the parents (or vice versa). The owners have included details of a number of walks starting and finishing at the cottage. Multiple copies of these walks are printed on A4 sheets (map and directions), allowing you to take these with you (we got the kids to lead and navigate using these). It's a nice touch that encourages you to make the most of the location rather than blindly going to the more obvious tourist traps. I can certainly recommend the pizza's made in the outside wood fired oven at the Askham Hall cafe, and dinner at the Punchbowl Inn."

"Brook Cottage is a lovely well-presented cottage with plenty of living space for the four of us, and the weather was beautiful so we were able to make plenty of use of the pretty courtyard garden. The cottage is very well equipped and there are comprehensive instructions regarding all aspects of the cottage. In addition the owners have thoughtfully provided details of several walks which can be done straight from the door. Askham itself is a lovely picturesque village in an area of the Lakes we haven't visited before so we did several walks and cycle rides in the area. We also walked to Pooley Bridge from the cottage on a beautiful sunny day, and were rewarded with stunning views across Ullswater to Helvellyn. All in all a lovely cottage which we would definitely return to."

"Excellent property upgrades and extremely clean and comfortable as ever. BUT... A holiday is about arriving to a destination set up to give you a terrific experience for a short period of time. Whilst we brought the usual things we need, there was no milk, no coffee, not even a tea bag to make a cuppa when you arrive. You also need to remember to bring items like cooking oil and everything else as there are NO store cupboard items, and no hand soap to wash your hands in one of the toilets. It would also be nice to have a couple of bath sheets and / or bath robes as all that is provided is a regular shower towel per person that does not even hold around your waist (and I'm only regular in build..). Otherwise a wonderful stay!"

"We had a fab stay at this cottage and when it says pet friendly it is no rules for dogs (this is the only one we have ever stayed at that does not have any rules and we have stayed at many) the views are stunning and walks amazing, the fells are just a short walk up the road, spent many hours walking our two dogs who loved it. They had to stay on lead as lots of sheep there. Also a short walk along the road and across a field is the next village Askham two fab pubs which serve food and a shop which has great pasties. We will defo be going back again. The cottage is comfortable and very well equipped it was also spotless, very clean. We also found everyone very friendly"
