Snaptrip says

Tanyard Cottage is praised for its beautiful location, cosy atmosphere, and historical charm. Guests appreciate the well-equipped kitchen, comfortable bed, and the scenic walks right on the doorstep. The wood burning stove adds to the cottage's appeal, making it a delightful stay for many, despite some concerns over maintenance and comfort of the sofa.

Guests that stayed at this property said

The cottage received mixed feedback on cleanliness. Some guests found it very clean and tidy, while others noted issues with grubby carpets, a poorly cleaned shower room, and a musty smell upon arrival. The variance in experiences suggests room for improvement.

The location is highly praised for its superb setting in the Lake District, with easy access to woodland walks, kayaking, and historical sites. The proximity to High Dam and the quiet village atmosphere contribute to its high rating.

Comfort levels are generally good, with a comfy master bed and cosy log burner mentioned. However, several guests found the sofa uncomfortable and the floors uneven, which affected the overall comfort rating.

Facilities are adequate with a well-provided kitchen and good internet, but there are several mentions of maintenance issues such as the porch area, mismatched crockery, and an outdated TV service. The presence of underfloor heating and a log burner are positives.

While some guests expressed disappointment at the lack of welcoming touches like tea, coffee, or a hairdryer, there is no consistent mention of gifts or extras provided by the host. As such, it's not possible to accurately score thoughtfulness, and guests should not expect these extras as standard.

Although it had underfloor heating, the log burner had to be used aswell which was lovely. The porch however needs a total rebuild as it was wet most of the time due to the weather & there being a drainpipe inside it. The catch on the gate needs replacing aswell as it kept opening with the wind which is not good when you've got a dog.

Ended up having to stay an extra day which the owner was so understanding about. Very beautiful area and the cottage is so cosy.

Kitchen was well equipped. Bed was soft and warm. Neutral and modern decor but still had charm. Only issue we had was limited parking spots if there were other cars parked on the road. Sofa isn’t the comfiest but was fine for us. Lovely walks on your doorstep.
