"S18459 is a pretty property in a quiet hamlet. Its location provides easy access to the western lakes and to interesting coastal towns and villages. The cottage is generally comfortable, but the dining chairs could do with replacing as none of them are comfortable to sit on. We used cushions from the settee for padding. The mattress topper is a bit soft and very warm which caused us to wake up every night in a sweat. There was no protector on the topper which was stained. The tea pot is an absolutely hopeless pourer and needs replaced, and there is still a need for a clothes horse--it is the Lake District after all, where are folk meant to hang wet coats etc. to dry after a day in the rain, never mind any washing?Despite these small grumbles, we had a lovely holiday based at S18459. The countryside is beautiful, and there is so much to see and do. We would happily stay there again and recommend the cottage to friends.Thank you for the bottle of wine on arrival. It was much appreciated.P.S. Key safe not very easy to find/access."

"We were very disappointed with our stay at Duddon Bank Cottage. The garden was in a state of disrepair. The cottage looked very shabby and was infested with bats! On three separate occasions both in the main bedroom and lounge we were accosted by a couple of bats flying at great speed all around us which was very unpleasant indeed. This meant we had to sleep in the grotty downstairs bedroom. The mattresses on the beds were extremely uncomfortable. We had to seal off all areas to try to keep the bats out. We decided to cut our stay short and came back 3 days early as we could stand it no more. It turns out that the bats were in the roof space and somehow finding their way into the house. We had a word with the owner about the situation and he said there had been previous problems with bats."

"We stayed here as part of a family holiday & having both cottages worked brilliantly. Especially having the golf course. They only reason I marked lower for comfort is because I found the double bed in S18457 too firm for me and therefore uncomfortable. However I have rheumatoid arthritis so it is a very presonal thing to every individuals preference. Others will find it comfortable I'm sure. It wouldn't prevent us from returning to the cottage. I would simply sleep in a different bed. It is a lovely well equipped cottage. Lots of character. Great shower. Great bath. Lots of room. Lovely surroundings and plenty to do. Our weather was a bit challenging so we didn't allow us to walk or cycle as much as we'd have liked. Brilliant secure storage for bikes. All in all a lovely spot."

"Lovely location. Local shop only open 8:30 - 1:00, but a COOP & Tesco express in Grange - less than 2 miles away, plus petrol station/ shop at Newby Bridge around 4 miles. Cottage had all we needed. . Very comfortable, the wood burner will only take smaller sized logs , which we weren't aware of until we bought a bag from the garage. We visited local towns, and further afield towards Western lakes, yet close enough to beaches of Morecambe and Blackpool. Had difficulty with outer front door locking, but it was a hinderance, not a major problem. There was a list of walks and available amenities, including places to eat, recycle advice laid out in the folder at the cottage. The local pub was very handy, especially as they allowed us to park our car, with consideration of course."

"A very nice cottage, comfortable and with all the kitchen equipment we needed. We booked the cottage before deciding what we would want to do, so it required some reasonably long trips (c1 hour) to some of the places we ended up wanting to go (Keswick, Windemere), but this was our fault in not doing the research. There was, however, plenty to do in the local area with Muncaster castle and walks near Nether Wasdale nearby. The local shop is well worth a visit, for the sausages if nothing else!We also couldn't get any mobile phone reception, although it was nice to be cut off from constant calls and messages while in the cottage!All-in-all, a great place to go to get away from things, while still being able to travel to most places within around an hour."
