"We stayed between the 6th and 13th of April for a week with our two young children who loved being in the same room at night as well as the many hiding places whilst playing hide and seek. The main bedroom was a bit on the tight side and felt it would be better if the rooms were swapped. The cottage itself was fine and we thought everyone was catered for. We didn't realize that there was no washing machine when we booked , and with local muddy walks on the doorstep it became somewhat of a nuisance not being able to wash the kids clothing (although we used the kitchen sink to do handwashes). Perhaps replacing the dishwasher with a washing machine might be of more use? Also, if using the dishwasher switch it on when you go out as it's noise means you cannot watch TV at the same time. It was our first visit to Northumberland and we were taken away by the beauty of the area. Unfortunately the weather was awful for most of the week and we didn't get to visit places as much as we would have liked. The moorings cottage next door had occupants in for four days of our stay in S14705 which made for interesting parking issues - they had three cars and made it very difficult for us to park our car in the allotted car space (might be worth a polite notice in front of the S14705 sign). We are former holiday cottage owners and we realize you can't keep everyone happy but we felt very comfortable in S14705 and it's location was ideal for sightseeing. It was just a shame we had not fully checked the facilities when we booked as the lack the washing machine did cause an issue mainly as the bad weather resulted in lots of muddy clothing."

"Lovely week at the cottage, ideal so close to the sea for walks around the bay. We also used it as a base to visit local castles, houses and the Farne Islands. The cottage was very comfortable and had almost everything you needed. A small sharp peeling knife would be a good addition to the kitchen. It mentioned putting the rubbish out in the book but there was no information on the kitchen door for this, and as we like to recycle we took our rubbish home, maybe further information on this or a bin for recycling would be handy. It may be an idea to have blinds on the sky lights in the bedroom, as it was quite bright early in the morning. We were unfortunate to have the gas board digging up the path outside the property for half of the week, which resulted in us being woken up early and there was no where to park outside the property when this was happening, therefore we had to park in the small car park at the end of the road. Overall we really enjoyed our stay there and had a good week."

"The cottage was quite pleasant, reasonably well decorated and a welcome pack. The big miss was a washing machine. The fridge/freezer in the cupboard was a real pain-in-the-neck, making it difficult to open the door, snecking fingers and ensuring that the cupboard was unable to be used. I would be much better to have the fridge/freezer against the wall, but that would block the light switches. Perhaps the switches need to be moved to allow this to happen. And somewhere needs to be found for a washing machine. The cottafge was pleasant, but the way that the kitchen was laid out just made us annoyed, and spoiled our holiday a little. Nice walks round about, but wear wellies, as the were quite a bit muddy (it had been wet). Beach walks were good as was the nature reserve (but ,again, some parts muddy). Amble is a pleasant wee town and the Sunday market was good. We enjoyed our week, but will probably pick a different cottage the next time we go to Northumberland."

"The 'house' was not at all suitable for a dog as the living room was upstairs and dogs were not allowed upstairs. The downstairs bedroom had no windows so was dark and airless. The upstairs bedroom was too light. The blinds on the window were useless and there was a street lamp outside. The velux windows had blinds on them but it was impossible to reach them so they were uncovered all the time. There was no dishwasher which is fair enough but there was no draining board to put the washed items. With a wet dog and child, it would have been a good idea to come and go through the utility room but then the dog (and the rest of us) would have had to go through the downstairs bedroom (which was not allowed).I would not describe the house as 'end of terrace'. It was more like a garage conversion! It looked very modern and attractive inside but was really not very user friendly."

"This cottage is a stone barn recently converted to a high standard. For the two of us and our small dog, there was plenty of room and a self contained garden for the dog.Very clean and tidy.Good safe parking. The Cottage was located in the middle of the village with a very nice pub just a short walk away. There was also a village shop with a cafe which was well worth a visit. (As this was a fairly new barn conversion there was some of the decoration needed 'snagging') The only down side of the location was for us as keen hill walkers, due to the very large Army Otterburn training area, there was a fair distance to get into the near by Cheviot hills and moorland. That said there are local walks. Towards the end of our two week holiday the weather turned wet and cold but the cottage proved to be warm and cosy."
